World of Lendor

Welcome to the Lendorian Encyclopaedia

Hello, fellow knowledge seekers. My name is Claytus Tome, here to welcome you to our one-stop resource on all matters connected to the wonderful World of Lendor.

A brief history of Lendor:

Lendor was not always Lendor.   What do I mean?   Before Lendor’s birth, the Old World was in turmoil, dying due to human greed, with unsustainable pollution and an ever-escalating war heading the planet towards an apocalyptic finale with no solutions.   Until our saviour’s arrival - The White Lord, the God of all creation, had come to save our planet and bless it with his miraculous powers. This day would be known in Lendoriam history as Purification Day, Year 0 AP (AP standing for After Purification).   He (a God is neither he nor she, but for simplicity, I shall use the ‘he’ form) removed all the dark Taint that had accumulated in the hearts and souls of men and purified one and all. Only the vessels of the deserving survived, and all those with taint perished.   He redistributed the freed light back into the planet: A dying world lived again...

Lendor was born

A New World complete with a barrier of light to protrct the survivors from the corruption of the old. Survivors who would need to relocate to this new nirvana by traversing through the Stexus mountain range - the only safe path to enter Lendor.   The White Lord redistributed much of the recycled light to his chosen Lendorian Guardians. Five to keep the planet safe from the dark and nurture his light while refusing to align with the destructive technologies of the Old World.   Weapons of mass destruction were left behind, never to be seen again. Technological harmful developments using unsustainable fuels were abolished forever, and entrance to the Old World was closed to all.   Lendor was the future. The old world dead, buried in the past.    Each Guardian would take the survivors of their race to the appropriate area within Lendor chosen by the White Lord and remain there to live and repopulate   The Imperials, led by their Guardian Queen, were given Tenglan, found on the East coast of Lendor.   The Fein were a peaceful people who had gathered and hidden from the horrors of war and were led by John Toriel (Later known as Titan Toriel). They were given the South of Lendor to live with their Forest guardian from Eristry forest. A being with the power to provide life to all its people within its borders and death to its enemies.   The persecuted half-human, half-animal breed, the Riktus, were given two Guardians: One, the King, to guide his people to survive the harsh climate of the mountainous Grask region. And for their second guardian the White Lord's light gave life to the mountain itself and named it Okron - This, the most powerful Lendorian being alive, would protect its people and be the gatekeeper stopping the threats of the Old World from entering the Lendorian borders and polluting the world back to its original destructive path.   And finally, the most secretive of the major races. The Ofrak. Their King, Destrus, and his people were given Lendor's barren western region of Drad. Why does a lifeless area exist in such a beautiful, lush world like Lendor? People can only speculate, but stranger still, why did Destrus accept this arrangement? Perhaps he had no option against a divine power and intended to take what he felt they were owed later. (A likely possibility considering the impact of the Eristrad conflict - explained later.)   His followers set their roots, and Destrus set about the seemingly unholy act of using his new Light powers to create a people that never died. Beings that lived on even after death and seemed the very definition of darkness that the Lord had sought to remove. But who are we to judge the decisions of a divine being that knows all?   And, from these four seeds, Lendor grew, and 8 and half centuries later, the year stands at 841 AP.

Current day and the Eristrad conflict:

Since Lendor’s purification, one Guardian, the Riktus King, has been lost, and various conflicts have led to rising tensions between the races, but the Guardians have not tempted the wrath of the White Lord by returning to the temptations of the old ways. They fight using the White Lord's own essence - the power of light.   The Ofrak, seemingly dissatisfied with their homeland, have sought better accommodation for their people. They decided against upheaving the smaller tribal nomads of the Death Plains and instead encroached into the Tsarkos forest. A land outside Stexas mountains that the Riktus claimed as their own. The battle was a costly mistake for Destrus as the ferocious Riktus beasts and their indomitable Guardian crushed the Ofrak army after stepping less than a hundred paces into Tsarkos forest.   Undaunted by this catastrophic failure, and fueled by an army of undead, King Desteus changed targets to Eristrad an area neighbouring Fein's forest of Eristry. The Fein, not wanting a huge army of half-dead beings on their borders, rode out to confront the Ofrak. The history books tell how he laughed at the sight of the slim, war-painted, spear-welding female warriors charging his army. Destrus would earn much-needed morale for his people with a crushing victory against the peaceful tree lovers. Or so he thought.   The forest dwellers, led by Titan Toriel, Queen Gwendalor, and protected by their all-powerful forest guardian, fought like possessed beings to push the undead horde back to their land of Drad. What followed was a protracted, attritional war that continued for over 200 years. A war that, at its peak, took countless Ofrak and Fein lives and decimated the neighbouring areas known as the Eristrad Conflict  . And, for an Imperial historian, like myself it is still unclear why both races were so willing to lose so much to gain so little.   In the last fifty years, the war effort has stalled. The Ofrak changed their pondering meat-grinding walk-forward tactics to occasional raiding parties to test the Fein’s resistance. But, although the war has simmered to almost nothing, old resentments fester like a painful boil, ready to explode.   Meanwhile, Titan Toriel's inability to end the Ofrak horde has raised tensions within his own borders and led to the rise in popularity towards a powerful Fein warrior who leads an emerging group of Fein that have ignored the elders by living on the earth in stone and wooden homes and not high up in tree houses. They call themselves the Earth Dwellers and have an army that could threaten even Toriel's might. All the while, King Destrrus's horde waits eagerly in the shadows ready to exploit any weakness this internal strife offers.

Imperial Rise

The Imperials, with no conflicts to worry about, have continued to evolve their technology and grow their population to become the most abundant and powerful race within Lendor. Cities brimming with a lively population that trusts their Queen Guardian and have access to technical marvels like (EC Machines / The Vaults / Wizard Glass / Tatrin Fabric / modernised street lighting / sanitation and a plethora of wizard items that improve everyday life. Technical achievements that the other races could never conceive. They are also the founders of Battle Balt and are at the forefront of new arena and blade technology that the other races could only dream of.

The Encyclopaedia of Lendor was compiled thanks to the contributors listed below. Without their help and desire to burn the candle through the early hours of the night, this vast accomplishment could never have been achieved.

Ricardo Butler:

Our foremost contributor provides articles on all matters connected to Imperial life and, despite his protestations - our religious consultant. He also provided his popular (some might say ethically dubious) 60-second interviews & Memoirs of the ordinary. Above all others, it was he who breathed light into this resource.

Gertrus Rosine:

Her impeccable knowledge of Battle Balt history allowed us to offer a resource that even professional Balters refer to. Her popular snap profiles are highly regarded in the industry, and receiving praise from the Tornading Rhino is guaranteed to rapidly increase their rab base.

Drabasist Goster:

Having the services of the legendary baltsmith with his insider knowledge in blade development allowed us to provide an invaluable resource to those interested in balter gear. It has been said the premium quality of his workmanship rivals that of even Slivers signature range. Praise indeed.

Claytus Tome:

And finally, we come to myself - Claytus Tome. Unfortunately, my duty to the The Queen meant my offerings to this resource have been minimal compared to the others but I hope my map of Lendor, race explanations and the Imperial history timelines have proven useful to our readers.
