HCS Zaurak Cryostasis Pods

The Cryostasis pods of the HCS Zaurak are one of the few remaining parts of the ship since it crashed in 0 AC. During the crash, the HCS Zaurak broke into chunks and scattered across the main continent. While most of the sections of the ship recovered, the cryostasis pods weren't rediscovered until 97 AC.

Cryostasis Experiment

The Cryostasis pods were created from the collaboration through the Science and Pharmaceuticals and the Engineering and Manufacturing Sector on Homeworld.   Since it had been a long time since Homeworld had sent off a colony ship, the program wanted to see what the results of using cryostasis would be for space travel, expecting the colonists to report back their findings once they landed on the decided planet.   Hoomans who volunteered to take part in the experiment were given bonus payment for themselves, as well as any non-cryostasis family member who was also on the ship.

System Failure

After the crash of the HCS Zaurak, the section with the cryostasis pods crashed deep in the centre of what would become the Nasgovian Hooman Nation. Due to a malfunction, the emergency escape on the pods did not trigger, causing the hoomans inside to be stuck in cryostasis. Over time, the emergency power began to fail in some of the pods, which caused life-support to shut down, killing the hoomans frozen inside.

Recovery

Over the years, nature overtook part of the ship causing more malfunctions and death for the hoomans stuck inside. In 97 AC, one of the few working cryostasis chambers managed to initiate an emergency escape, opening the pods in that room. One survivor managed to pull themself out of the pod and while they experienced severe cryo-sickness, they were able to make their way out to the surface where they were eventually found by forest rangers.   The recovery of the lone survivor allowed the hoomans to rediscover the cryostasis pods. The site was cleared up and gutted of important technology and items for research. Bodies were taken for identification, as well as to see what exactly caused the deaths, before being sent to cremation.

Site Remembrance

In 99 AC, a site was set up in place of the Cryostasis pods as a place of remembrance of the people who were lost.
