The Ashlands Region
The northwest of Halruaal is home to a deadly combination of high, rocky mountains, boiling hot volcanoes, rich lowlands, and a deep and deadly coast. Yet at the same time, the Storm Coast is divided into two sub-regions: the Ashlands and the westside of the North.
This region holds land occupied my Clan Oni and the unaligned clans. Numerically speaking, there are more people than officially recognized by the Magisterium through a number of small villages of unaligned lords and clans. Dubbed the Ashlands as a whole, this massive region is not made for the weak. Nearly every inch of this area is meant to challenge and destroy hapless individuals - though not for the reason's one might think. While the Frozen lands to the north are considered the most inhospitable to common life, the infernos and wetlands of the Ashlands are bogged down in a messy array of political intrigue. As general rule, the Storm Coast shows no mercy. Clans of giants roam the mountains and dragons bath in volcanic runoffs. Even then commoners in the small villages that dot the landscape speak of ancient hags and rogue mages who prey on unsuspecting townsfolk.
But all this belays the purposeful campaign of the native wildlings (mixtures of humans, goliaths, elves, and other races) who clash with the disciplined warriors of House Odinson and spies of Clan Oni. Hiding in the hills, they ambush patrols and parties who venture out to patrol the land in a near endless war to reclaim their old homelands. The Magisterium has fought constantly with these rebels, yet have been unable to fully eradicate them.
Clan Oni coalesce in the volcanic range known as the Kazan Mountains and the Ashland lowlands. Weavers of illusions like no other, they’re known for their specialty in espionage and assassination. Enemies of this House must beware, the mist and the cherry blossoms can be a cunning beauty - one that hides a dark and venomous truth.
