Orc

Similar to the humans under Clan Oni and the Wildlings, the Orcs of Halruaal are also natives of the area.  For Centuries they have lived within the Kazan and Fimbulvetr Mountain ranges, both above ground and below it.  For decades there have been steady conflicts between the humans of Clan Oni and the battlemages of House Odinson.  Yet despite all the advancements in magic and steel, the orcs have persisted as a unruly neighbor (at best) and deadly opponent (at worst).  Neither side seems to gain or keep much ground between the Magisterium and the Orcish city states.  As such, a mutual respect over the centuries have formed.  

Basic Information

Anatomy

Orcs are hulking figures of green and grey muscles with sloping brows and jutting tusks.  Standing much taller and broader than humans, anyone can see that their physical capabilities are only challenged by the Goliaths in the North, and the Leonin in the mid region of Halruaal.

Biological Traits

Orcs have the following traits:
  • Ability score increases: Strength is increased by 2, Constitution is increased by 2, and Intelligence in decreased by 2
  • Size: Orcs stand taller than 6 ft. and weigh anything from 230 to 280lbs
  • Speed: Base speed of 30 ft.
  • Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60ft as if it were bright light, and darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in the darkness, only shade of grey.
  • Aggressive: As a bonus action, you can move up to you land speed towards an enemy of your choice that you can see or hear.  You must end this movement closer to said enemy.
  • Menacing: You are proficient in Intimidation.
  • Powerful Build: You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
  • Languages: You can speak Common and Oadozeshi.  And you can speak, read, and write Orc.

Genetics and Reproduction

Orcs reproduce physically, in both large numbers and with unbelievable speed.  Frequent species with orc blood can chalk it up to the fact that they are not choosey on who they breed with.

Growth Rate & Stages

At 4 years old an orc is considered a juvenile, and by age 12 it is a fully functioning adult. Most orcs don’t live past the age of 25 due to battle or illness, but an orc in the wilds can live to about 50, remaining healthy almost up until the end.  In "civilized" areas, orcs have a lifespan equivalent with half-orcs thanks to medicine and magical healings/blessings.

Ecology and Habitats

Orcs due well in the mountains and in the Underdark and very little else.  Most aren't used to living in the "low-lands" or behind city walls, though it is not completely unheard of for orcs to exist in such areas, especially in lands controlled by House Odinson.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Orcs are much more physically capable than most other humanoids, able to carry extreme loads, and attack fleeing opponents with near supernatural speeds (they are very dangerous over short distances).  What's more, they have adapted to the poor visibility of the mountain ranges and the Underdark and can see extremely well in near sightless environments.

Average Technological Level

Orcs have not advanced anywhere near the point of the Magisterium.  Their skills with crafting, magic, and even agriculture is almost non-existent, preferring to raid and loot from others instead of making any significant attempt to advance themselves.  

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Orcs speak Common, Orcish, and Oadozeshi though they usually can only read and write in Orcish.

History

Orcs have consistently engaged in a skirmishes with the Magisterium's forces.  The conflict has raged for centuries and shows no sign of stopping.  At some point after the War of Conflict with the elves, the orcs managed to form an uneasy alliance with the northern goblins and hobgoblins.  The resulting union merged the cultures of the two into an semi ordered cadre of war parties and city states.  Over the years many petty warlords competed with each other while fighting House Odinson and Clan Oni. 

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Orcs, goblins, and hobgoblins are their own branch of people despites being clumped in with the Wildlings.  Together they have formed a society that rival counties within the Magisterium.  The only thing that really keeps them at bay is the series of infight they engage in.  The three races vie for dominance, particularly the orcs and hobgoblins, this act alone has limited the orcs ability to overwhelm the Northern forces of House Odinson through hordes of warriors.
