Tabaxi

Similar to their cousins, the Leonin, the Tabaxi are beast folk native to the Heartlands and the plains of the Dytika Isles. Cunning and quick, they are often members of more nimble and cunning professions such as bards and rogues. Either way, their curious and aloof nature, along with their obsession with shiny things often vex and complicate their interactions with others.  Nomadic by nature, Tabaxi take to adventuring like a fish takes to water.

Tabaxi have similar cycles when compared with the Leonin.  They will spend their first 5 years transitioning from cub to adolescent. They reach adulthood around 5 years old and are in their physical prime from age 10 to 40. They get into middle age around 40 with a decline into senior status at 65. Tabaxi can live to around 90 years old - though their antics usually cut their lifespan prematurely.

History

Tabaxi existed in the lands found and inhabited by House Udaku and Romanos before the two houses arrived with their genetic cousins, the Leonin. Initial contact went rather smoothly due to the Tabaxis' innate curiosity and charismatic nature.  Diplomatic channels opened up before the Leonin even considered the idea. Over time, and friendship formed between the two Houses, though this stopped short before an alliance with the full Magisterium. To this day, Most in the Magisterium have a friendly - or at least non-hostile relationship with the Tabaxi.  Many contemptuous members of the Magisterium feel that subsuming the Tabaxi would be a waste anyways.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Tabaxi usually are friendly with most races, but there is an unspoken rivalry with their cousins the Leonin.  The Tabaxi see them as too rigid and frumpy, while the Leonin view the Tabaxi as aloof and unreliable.
