Anderyorn Crownlands
The Anderyorn Crownlands are the richest and most populous lands in the Kingdom of Dovenar, and those most directly governed by the crown. While large swaths are ruled directly by the royals, most of the land is divided between local knightly estates and other vassals. Some of these vassals have divided allegiances, and are families that serve other lords in other lands - notably other Hainish noble Houses.
The Anderyorn Crownlands can be divided into several distinct parts:
- The Western Crownlands, the main bulk of Anderyorn where much of the food is produced. For much of the year, the royal retinue cycles through these lands, keeping the vassals loyal and the lands in check. The royal home base in the Western Crownlands is the palatial village of Krevsha.
- The Keilbarbolk, the capital lands in the East that orbit around the main city of Keilbar
- The Geinsteinn Wilds, uncontrolled lands that divide the Keilbarbolk from the Western lands
- The Wintercrown road, a strip of Northern farmland and villages going around the Wilds and connecting the main parts of Anderyorn together
- The Contested Lands, the Northwestern parts of Anderyorn that are still under threat from monsters and are still being colonized by the nobility
- Krivsha is the Summer Palace of Dovenar - the place where the monarch resupplies and keeps a year-round bureaucratic presence as the Queen tours the land during warm months. It is the center of aristocratic society in the Westerlands. This is also where the Rosgen of the Westerlands lives and hosts a druid circle.
- Dornfen is a large village/small town on the coast and the primary coastal supply/travel point for the Westerlands. It is also the primary point of noble contestation to the Queen's power; the main local landowner is also a vassal to a Hainish noble Elector-Clan, House Halar. The Queen's House, House Savadan, isn't an enemy of House Halar, so it isn't too big a deal, but if something political were to happen between nobles it would be here. More druids are also here nearby, at the Druid grove/lighthouse known as the Green Tower.
- Ainharkas, just Southeast of Krivsha, is the main Western observation point for monitoring the Geinsteinn Wilds and combatting any bandits or monsters that may attack from it. The knight who rules the fortress there holds authority over the other local knights - and the current fort commander is known for both their chivalrous generosity and their intense need for validation and affirmation by the local peasantry. The local priest is a mystic with sorcerous abilities. Currently, Ainharkas is on high alert, given the recent violent expulsion of an outpost from the Wilds - and the fort commander has been finally looking into a series of livestock dissapearances that could be either bandits, magic, or ordinary petty theft.
- Kormosh, way in the North, is the center of administration and military coordination in the Contested Lands. Kormosh is notable as a rare center of administration in a mostly feudal and paperless landscape; there are local Questing Monks there that compile reports of threats and bounties across the Northwest of Dovenar, military trainers training warriors and mages from across the local gentry, and a small library. It isn't impressive compared to a true town, city, or grand fortress, but it is a place where knights, adventurers, and couriers gather to connect the monster-fighting North to the security of the South. The local commander has a history of effective mediation between knights and communities, but is currently distracted with a legitimacy crisis in the family. The local priest is humorless and grim.
