Midland
Midland is a small island between North Lautney and South Lautney. Primarily inhabited by Amalgams, it is ruled by my own Evenbrook Clan. Specifically, it comprises County of Weatherby. Its largest city is Tullowdun, a center of innovation that houses a major Amalgam university specializing in science and technology.
Geography
Midland's northern and southern shores are craggy, sheer cliffs. Flying over the channels between Midland and each of the Lautneys, one can see where the cliffs once fit into one another. The western shore, being natural, is far more weather-worn and smooth. Forested hills that were once part of the Green Mountains roll over the island.Natural Resources
Like the Green Mountains, Midland's primary resources are wood and stone, alongside some farmland for potatoes, grains, and oats. The smaller size of the island makes it less popular than its neighbors to the north and the south for livestock.History
Midland was born alongside North and South Lautney when Flaithrí split Inis na Elathán down the middle. It is said that he grew tired near the end, resulting in the breaking off of Midland. After the island's creation, Flaithrí established a large training compound there due to the relative isolation and difficulty for a human to escape. The boys held there would eventually rebel during the Crathlian Revolution. After the revolution, Midland was held by the Paragon warlords that would become the Weatherby Clan. While the Weatherbys held it relatively consistently, the governing High Clan changed frequently. The Evenbrook Clan and the Greengale Clan fought over Midland viciously. Eventually the Evenbrooks won, and my clan has held Midland for several hundred years now, leaving the old Greengale castles in ruins. (For my part, I campaigned to restore the castle at Broken Point as a historical monument and museum, but it would have cost more to do so than such a venture was projected to earn. Unfortunately, the Evenbrook Clan is not wealthy enough to cover such a cost; for a High Clan, our personal fortune is pretty measly. Thus the castle remains in ruins.)Written by Cordelia Colbreak Evenbrook
