Nyssari
Nyssari, the second Steward of Autumn and Huichi’s first mortal successor, is a figure of deep mystique and reverence in Alathor’s history. Chosen for her unique blend of compassion, wisdom, and introspection, Nyssari embodied the delicate balance of life’s waning moments, a hallmark of Autumn’s domain. Her name, meaning "Night’s Kiss" in proto-Maian, reflects her gentle yet profound connection to the rhythms of twilight and transformation.
Nyssari, now Huichi, wandered the mortal realms disguised as the Maian Selora during her Stewardship. In her travels through Nakhasi territories, she encountered Syla, a luminous and fiercely intelligent woman trapped in a marriage to Mok Kar, a ruthless and power-hungry Nakhasi chieftain. Their connection was instant—Nyssari’s calm celestial grace counterbalanced Syla’s fiery determination, and the two found solace in one another.
Their love, though forbidden, flourished in secret. Nyssari revealed her true celestial identity over time, and though Syla was initially overwhelmed, she grew to embrace the depth of their bond. Nyssari’s divine presence brought hope and light to Syla’s otherwise constrained life.
Yearning for children after years of infertility with Mok Kar, Syla confided her dreams to Nyssari. In an extraordinary act of love, Nyssari used her celestial power to conceive a child with Syla. Thus, Mok Tun, the first demigod, was born. To protect Syla from Mok Kar’s inevitable suspicions, the child was presented as his own. Mok Kar, blinded by pride, accepted Mok Tun as his heir.
Their union produced more children in secret:
Nyssari’s love for her family was boundless, but her Stewardship duties could not be ignored. Zun-2, driven by desperation to extend his Stewardship and avoid the pain of power transfer, summoned Nyssari. He revealed the existence of the Lifedrinkers, beings capable of draining and storing life force, and presented a radical idea: use the Lifedrinkers to circumvent the traditional Steward transfer process. Though revolted by the suggestion, Nyssari feigned interest, hoping to temper Zun-2’s dangerous ambitions.
During this encounter, Nyssari met Zera, a young Lifedrinker who showed immense control and compassion despite her inherent nature. Nyssari, sensing the growing instability among the Stewards and the threat Zun-2 posed, made the agonizing decision to transfer her Steward Stone to Zera. In a ritual fraught with risk, Nyssari imbued Zera with her power, transforming her into Huichi-3.
As the ritual concluded, Zera turned her newfound power against Zun-2, nearly killing him in a fit of fury. Severely wounded, Zun-2 fled, leaving Zera, now fully Huichi-3, to grapple with the burden of her new role.
When Zera, as Huichi-3, returned to Syla and their children, she found devastation. Syla was dead, killed by Mok Kar in a tragic confrontation. Mok Tun had slain Mok Kar in retaliation, but the remaining children—Bulan, Eris, and the twins—had disappeared. Zera did not know that Isoko-2, the Steward of Spring, had taken them into hiding to shield them from further harm.
Though Zera was now Huichi-3, she still carried Nyssari’s memories and feelings. The grief of Syla’s death and the disappearance of their children overwhelmed her. Distraught and heartbroken, she took Syla’s body and disappeared into obscurity, retreating to mourn the loss of her mortal connection and the life she could no longer reclaim.
Zera’s ascension and Nyssari’s choices left a profound impact on Alathor:

- The Stewardship’s Strain: Zera’s ascension marked a significant deviation in the Steward lineage. Her existence as both a Lifedrinker and Steward introduced instability into the celestial balance.
- The Eternal Love: Nyssari and Syla’s union remained a tale of love and loss, echoing through Alathor’s myths and shaping its history.
