Personal history
Eris and The Founding of Kyokuri
In the twilight of the collapsing Nakhasi Empire, as chaos reigned and order faltered, a desperate band of noble families sought salvation. They journeyed through peril and darkness, arriving at the hidden refuge of the Four Sisters: Bulan, Eris, and The Twins, Elpis and Moros. These sisters, demigods of untold power, had long been in hiding, weary of the mortal world's ceaseless demands and dangers. The Plea for Aid
The nobles, weary and broken, pleaded for help. They wished to forge a new nation, one free from the corruption and decay of the old empire. Yet, the sisters were reluctant. Bulan, ever cautious, feared that their involvement would draw the ire of more powerful beings and place them all in mortal peril. But Elpis, driven by a sense of justice, and Moros, motivated by self-interest, insisted on aiding these defectors. They argued that by helping the nobles, the Kyokuri could in turn become their protectors and shield them from their enemies. Eris, the wild and unpredictable sister, sided with the Twins. Her decision tipped the balance, leaving Bulan with no choice but to concede. But the question remained—how could they help without exposing themselves to greater threats? The Forbidden Pact
In a moment of revelation, Eris shared a dark secret. During her solitary adventures, she had discovered a weakened, shriveld and grotesque Harbinger named Vok that had been imprisoned in the trunk of a Great Red Tree, with the tree ever stunted and sickly as it combated the vile thing embedded within it. Vok, this essence of corruption and despair had promised Eris unimaginable power if she freed it. For years, Eris had toyed with Vok, enjoying the Harbinger's frustration and pathetic desperation. But now, she saw a grim opportunity. Despite her sisters' horror and protests, Eris resolved to negotiate with Vok. She placed her hand upon the tree, her mind plunging into Vok's mind, where he awaited. The Harbinger, sensing his chance, raged and promised boundless gifts for his freedom. Eris, cunning and sharp, saw through his deceit. She threatened to destroy the tree if Vok did not agree to her terms. To her surprise, Vok instead taunted her, encouraging her to destroy the tree - his body may die, but he would quickly find a new host. Smiling with dark resolve, she gave Vok a wink and laughed as an expression of fear suddenly washed over him. He began to plea, but she severed the connection without responding. Her sisters, who had been carefully watching over her while she was in trance, then watched in dread as Eris awakened and without explanation or hesitation, in a moment of mad courage, ripped into the tree and into Vok's head. She pulled his essence and his mind free from his body with a great tearing rip - and then she ate it.The Battle Within
For seven days and nights, Eris convulsed, her body and mind locked in a vicious struggle with the Harbinger. Bulan and Elpis stood vigil, their hearts heavy with fear and hope while Moros screamed curses of ruin first at the tree and then at Eris, until her voice was ragged and she simply slumped to sit and wait with her sisters. On the dawn of the eighth day, Eris's eyes snapped open, and a hysterical laugh escaped her lips. The sisters braced for the worst, but Eris, though touched by madness, assured them she had triumphed. The Harbinger's essence was now part of her, and with this dark power, she would gift the nobles of Kyokuri. The Blessing and the Curse
Eris, her mind forever changed, imbued the noble families with extraordinary abilities—strength, speed, durability, and intelligence. These gifts, drawn from the corrupted power of Vok, would pass through their bloodlines, creating a ruling class of superhuman warriors and protectors. The Great Red Tree, freed from the Harbinger's taint, began to grow once more. It towered above the grove, its branches reaching towards the heavens. The people of Kyokuri revered it, naming it "Eris’s Gift," a symbol of their newfound strength and the sacrifices made.Mental Trauma
After consuming the essence of the Haringer, Eris was forever altered. Her mind, a battleground of conflicting wills, led her to embrace a new identity. She became known as "The Clown Queen," a figure of whimsy and madness. Dressed in tattered rags, she roamed among the lowliest of mortals, entertaining children and comforting the downtrodden. Despite her power and the reverence of the nobles, she found solace in the simplest joys.
Her madness, or the appearance of it, shielded her from Zun-3 when he rose to power. Viewing her as no threat, he focused his wrath elsewhere, leaving Eris and the Twins to their own devices.
