Gods with Mortal Minds - The Birth of Demigods

Life, Birth

1657
1679

Syla, a Nakhasi woman, becomes romantically involved with Huichi-2, a Steward, leading to the birth of their children: Mok Tun, Bulan, Eris, and the Twins - the first demi-gods.

Mok Kar, Syla’s mortal husband, believes they are his children and uses Mok Tun to establish himself as a king of the Nakhasi. Syla, fearing Mok Kar will use all of the children, seeks out Huichi-2 but cannot find her.

Unable to find Huichi, Syla believes that Zun-2 must have killed her. She seeks the help of Isoko, who responds, and takes Bulan, Eris, and the Twins into hiding from Zun-2 and to keep them away from Mok Tun.

Syla confronts Mok Kar and tells him the truth. In his rage, he kills Syla. Mok Tun kills Mok Kar in response.

Millennia passed, and the Stewards continued to shepherd life on Alathor. However, this new generation of Stewards, though god-like in power and purpose, were once mortals and still both held the appearance and some of the emotional and psychological characteristics of their mortal form. That is to say - they often still longed for companionship.

Among the Nakhasi, a woman named Syla, became favored by Huichi-2. In learning that Syla had been unable to bear children for her husband, Mok Kar, Huichi-2 chose to secretly intervene and, with her divine abilities, impregnated Syla. Together, they devised a ruse to allow Mok Kar to believe the child was his own.

The first child, a boy, was named Mok Tun and began to immediately show signs of his divine parentage. He was strong, fast, intelligent, and appeared to be highly resistant to injury, if not altogether invulnerable. Mok Kar, whose ambitions were to lead and conquer, immediately recognized this as a utility, and began training the boy in the ways of war. Huichi-2 and Syla produced three more children, all daughters: Bulan, Eris, and the Twins (originally one child whose name is lost, but split to become Elpis and Moros). Mok Kar, blinded by ambition, sought to use Mok Tun and his siblings to establish himself as the king of the Nakhasi.

Fearing for her children’s future under Mok Kar’s influence, Syla sought out Huichi-2, hoping to protect them. However, Huichi-2 was nowhere to be found, as Zun-2 had taken her to see what he called his new species, The Drinkers. Syla instead prayed to Isoko-2, her heard her, and agreed to take the children into hiding.

Syla then confronted Mok Kar and told him the truth of the children's parentage - that they were not his. In a rage, Mok Kar killed Syla. Mok Tun, who witnessed this, then killed Mok Kar. Huichi (now Huichi-3) returned only to find the bodies. It is believed she buried Mok Kar and took Syla's body and then disappeared. None, even her siblings, have seen her since. This led to Isoko's theory that Zun must have found a way to kill her, further distancing those two siblings.
