The Maia were the first race shaped by a Steward from the corrupted lineage of The Prime. They were not merely healed—they were transformed. Isoko, Steward of Spring and rebirth, infused them with joy, beauty, and creative intuition. Her touch softened the primal chaos in their Soulforce, creating a people of grace, empathy, and profound emotional resonance with the natural world.
In Isoko’s eyes, they were her beloved experiment—not as servants, but as muses and kindred spirits. The Maia inherited her appreciation for life’s cycles, for the dance of beauty and sorrow, renewal and decay.

Appearance and Traits

Full-blooded Maia, rare in the modern age, are often described as ethereal, their features marked by wide-set, expressive eyes, high cheekbones, and ornamental skin patterns—subtle marblings or floral hues that shimmer faintly with emotion or Lifeforce fluctuations. Those with mixed heritage that includes Maian will often lose their natural, vibrantly colored skin tone, but will still usually have the ornamental skin patterns.

In places where Maia are rare or exoticized, some hide these traits to avoid unwanted attention—others exaggerate them proudly as a form of defiance.

Geographic Origin and Diaspora

The Maia originated in the forests and coastal regions of Labrilen, where they flourished under Isoko’s guidance. However, during the height of the Nakhasi Empire, they were enslaved, fetishized, and scattered across the continent.
In Yeoria, following Emilee’s Quiet Conquest and the fall of the Empire, they were welcomed back and played a key role in the founding of Urban Cosmopolitan culture—an integration of racial identities built on artistry, community, and mutual respect​Culture & Ethnic Framew….
Outside Yeoria, some remain in bondage or servitude, particularly in hidden pockets of Aurorum or among older Nakhasi noble lines, where their beauty is still coveted but their voices stifled.

Skin markings and colorations are accentuated through clothing, jewelry, or ceremonial dyes.

Spiritual Worldview

Maia spirituality honors the Mother (MOUA) and Isoko, focusing on the flow of lifeforce and seasonal renewal. They practice ritual gardening, water weaving, and flame dances—artistic disciplines that celebrate creation and impermanence.
Though they have Soulforce like other Prime-descended races, Maia are less prone to corruption due to Isoko’s influence. However, their emotional openness makes them vulnerable to manipulation or exploitation when outside their homeland.

Historical Trauma and Modern Rebirth

Centuries of objectification and slavery under the Nakhasi Empire left deep scars. Maia were seen as living art, paraded as status symbols or confined as concubines. But with the fall of the Empire and the rise of Empress Emilee, Maia were granted land and political power in Yeoria, helping to shape its cultural rebirth.
In modern Labrilen, Maia have built gardens, schools of artistry, and communal havens known as Kinjari, where story, song, and ritual connect the past to the future.
Despite their success, some Maia abroad still live in captivity—especially those born into servitude among powerful houses. Many remain loyal to their keepers, fearing that Yeoria’s revolutionary ideals might upend their place of safety, however compromised.

Tall, slender, and elegant, the Maia possess a naturally graceful build. Their physicality supports their proficiency in dexterity-based skills, often seen in dance, acrobatics, or combat.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Because of Isoko's love of the natural world, she imbued her creations with as much of it as she could. A pure-blooded Maia can range in appearance as far as skin tone and patterning goes, from dark to light hues, spannng the spectrum of vibrant colors found in all flora and fauna, and often with intricate skin-patterns or markings that can resemble marble, veins of ore, the patterns of flowers or birds, or any combination.
