Captain Hellonian
Captain Hellonian is a captain in the Kerite's Drakes mercenary company. He is also a member of the Glass Knife.
STORY
When Thessa Foleer moves her phoenix channel operation to the Forge, Kempt lights a signal flare to indicate their location to Kerite's Drakes. Soon after, Captain Hellonian arrives with a contingent of dragoons. They capture the carriages and horses and cordon off the path to prevent Thessa or her companions from escaping. He then calls out to them, demanding their peaceable surrender. He states they will take custody of them and arrange for their ransom back to Ossa. Tirana Kirkovik believes the offer is a lie and that Captain Hellonian has an ulterior motive, since it is unlikely that he is willing to lose men simply to capture a few trapped Ossan enforcers. It is later revealed that Captain Hellonian is actually there to take control of the phoenix channel. He shows his Glass Knife tattoo to them, asking if it changes their minds about surrender. Thessa says no, but Breenen Alvari sees it and says yes, ordering his loyal enforcers to turn on the rest of their party. Together, Captain Hellonian and Breenen capture Thessa, Pari, and Tirana and imprison them in the nearby abandoned lighthouse. Breenen informs the captain of the deal he has with Devia Kerite, namely that if he gives her the phoenix channel, she will spare Demir Grappo's life in the war. The captain promises to honor the agreement and sends messengers to inform Kerite that they have captured the device.
In an effort to escape, Thessa comes up with a plan to blast her captors with the phoenix channel. She distracts Breenen with a heated, deeply personal conversation about his betrayal, during which she ungrounds the device and kicks it to aim at the door. When Breenen notices, he shoots Thessa and Tirana. Captain Hellonian enters the lighthouse to see what the commotion is all about. Just at that moment, lightning strikes the phoenix channel, which converts the energy into a beam that instantly disintegrates him and all of his dragoons.
