Na Settlement in Gamma World | World Anvil

Na

Na comes across as a simple, unassuming place, and (perhaps surprisingly for the Gamma Age) it mostly is. About the only misleading thing in Na is that it is quite a bit more prosperous than its appearance would suggest. Situated in the most fertile region of the Southern Plains of Taebur, it is one of very few places not along the White River that actually makes a profit off agriculture.   Na is surrounded by numerous farms and fields of crops growing to the sides of, and underneath, the broken remains of the ancient highways that criss-cross the area. The town itself is small and densely packed, its buildings looking somewhat ramshackle despite being sturdy and secure.

Demographics

Na has a fairly diverse population. The majority of people are stock humans, but it is only a small majority. Mutants of various types make up only a little under half the population.   About one third of the population live in densely packed town proper, while the other two thirds live in the surrounding farms. This makes Na one of the larger settlements in Taebur in terms of land area.

Industry & Trade

There aren't a lot of communities in Taebur that produce enough food to be able to export any after taking care of their own needs. Na is one of the few that can, and therefore makes a hefty profit on the sale of vegetables and livestock.   Stapel crops include peanuts, wheat, sugarcane, and sesame, along with vegetables such as tomato, sweet potato, and yam.   Livestock primarily includes sheep, cattle, goats, and camels. Na also deals in giant lazzars and even a few horses and the occasional elephant.
