Grafton Settlement in Gamma World | World Anvil

Grafton

Grafton is one of the largest and most prosperous settlements in Taebur. However, much like other "rich" locations, like Rabbit, most of its prosperity is enjoyed only by an elite few, with the majority of citizens living in poverty and squalor. Most of its buildings are run-down and falling apart, yet a few stand gleaming and in good repair, and the town offers some of the best, most respected construction services in the region.   The surrounding countryside has good farmland, and Grafton produces a substantial amount of crops (though still behind some places like Na). Nevertheless, many of its residents struggle to get enough to eat as most of the food goes to the rich or is sold to other settlements before locals can get it.   For travellers, however, Grafton is a great place to stop on any journey. It has an expansive market and quality lodgings. It is not generally a place to stay for long, though, as it has little in the way of entertainment offerings.

Demographics

The population of Grafton is fairly diverse, spread between stock humans and mutants, plus a few synthetics. The rich elite of the town, however, is almost entirely human, with even a few pure-strain humans rumoured to be amongst them.
