Diu North

Demographics

Coastal People

Since the Nina Pillunya Pacha, the city's inhabitants have been the mix-blooded descendents of the "spontaneous generation" and the mud men which includes the:
  • Riven of Diu
  • Bayn of Hayaqiago
  • Deltn of Bird's Feet
  • Defences

    Massive Walls

A colossal "D" shaped mass of earth towers over any and all structures surrounding it. The wall stands so tall, about 300ft, that it obscures the skyline from the inside and views the rest of the valley outside.   Despite being mainly made of sandstone, the wall is infused with large amounts of camay, boosting its hardness to an absurd degree. Because the wall is such a thick solid mass (27ft wide), with no gate or gate houses, people can only enter the district proper by climbing over the walls.

    Industry & Trade

    Luq'u-luq'u

The very top of North's wall is wide enough to carry traffic, so the administrators opened a dock to initially service their residents. However, its immense height above the valley floor renders it only useful during the flood season; when lower docks are inaccessible. The wall's towering elevation and strategic position have instead transformed it into a protected transit hub, facilitating the movement of goods and travelers between distant destinations rather than serving the settlement directly.

    Districts

The north's defensive wall is so big that it makes the actual interior seem incredibly deep. The local residences consider this part of Diu to be divided into 3 layers.

    Aswan Patamanta

The topmost section of the quarter that gets the most exposure to sunlight and is recognizably occupied by the empire's citizens.

    Chawpi Aswan

The middle layer where most commoners can comfortably reside, save for moments when criminal elements might ascend from down below.

    Aswan Uray

Generally the shadowy and abandoned foundation where many fear to tread but is still desirable to the desperate.

    Architecture

    Monumental Architecture

Sculpted rock from the time of Mit'awi Chapaq are what makes up the remains of Aswan Uray. They are remarkably well preserved with a beautiful glassy exterior that can glitter, even in the dark.

    Geography

    Sacred Valley

Like with many settlements along the Sacred River, Diu sits along the invisible paths of thick and dense siq'i lines. As a consequence, it is a place where innoit magic is very potent.   Its position at the center of the valley makes it a vital and influential trading hub throughout the empire's tribute system.

    Climate

Diu has a cool and dry climate throughout the year. Though it experiences mild winters, requiring light woolens, heavy rains are not uncommon. The earlier months are hot but the temperature does not rise abnormally. The lower levels, especially, remain cool throughout the year.

    Natural Resources

Dream Fish: A tiny bioluminescent fish that can survive in either fresh or salt water and is used to light dark areas.   Pecari: A stout pest that eats anything of fabric, raiding stores and besieging wells. They go as they like though streets and homes; making their way from the sea to the Grey Haven where they are not known to journey back.
