Torrix

Mountain Home

For thousands of years the Mountain Dwarves have inhabited the vast mountain spine of Torrix. Found in the northern end of Torrix is a vast, country-spanning ridge of high peaked mountains; most of this range forms the border between Torrix and the northern wastes. Many major dwarven cities, with their high walls and open ports, can be found nestled into the hearts and open spaces of these mountains.

Crested Hills

In the southern side of Torrix, bordering the Imperial Lands, lies the home of the hill dwarves, a realm of endless hills rolling down into the riverlands beyond. Laying along the tops of these hills is a network of paved roads that connect and carry trade from the mining towns and dwarven homes to the rest of Fehr'gia.

Geography

Creating a perilous natural barrier between the northern wastes and the rest of the mainland is a vast range of spires and ridges known as Avani’s Bulwark. A sprawling network of mines, both active and abandoned, tunnels through these mountains into the dwarven homes. Rolling hills stretch south of the Bulwark, flowing naturally into the riverlands beyond.

Ecosystem

Food is scarce in Torrix’ rocky landscape. Herbivores only have creeping vines and the occasional weed to sustain themselves, and even these are rare. Because of this, creatures are often smaller and more agile in order to find food. Most predators on the surface are avians, with the occasional mountain lion or wolf. Ruling above even lions or wolves are the resilient trolls that reign unquestioned.

Natural Resources

The ores, minerals, and crystals mined in the mountain homes supply blacksmiths around the world. While farming in the mountains is nearly impossible, the southern hills provide decent enough soil for farmers to make a living. In place of normal agriculture, the deepest dwarven homes have normalized themselves to cultivating mushrooms instead.
