Fortress Prometheus

I flew off of the balcony we were standing on to look at the brilliant latticework of the structure we were now in, which was like an elaborate onyx stone with massive windows that looked out onto a lush tropical jungle. The greenery was a sharp contrast to the ebon-black walls and floors of the building we were now in, and as I looked in amazement at the alien technology here and there, I realized that there were no ramps or staircases going from floor to floor.

This place was specifically built for someone who could fly.

Located on the secret Promethean Isle, Promethean's hidden getaway is notoriously hard to find, and to the wider public, its existence is more rumor than fact.

Items and Equipment

  • Teleportation Portal -
This device allows for instantaneous travel from one place to another
over great distances. It apparently requires a companion device on the
receiving end. Promethean used this device to transport himself and
Prodigious Girl from the Liberty Squadron's base to Fortress Prometheus
on Promethean Isle, his hidden sanctuary, a location 1400 miles away
from Faraday City. Logic suggests that this is in some way connected
to the Warp Space "warp lockers," but it is unknown if this is the case,
or if there are any limitations on its usage.

  • Costume Fabricator -
Located at Fortress Prometheus, Promethean appears to have
equipment to design and fabricate costumes at least as good as, if
not better than, the ones in Faraday City's CosFab facility. The
holographic display certainly seems more sophisticated.

Purpose / Function

In theory, the fortress is simply a larger and much fancier version of Prodigy's Garage, a secret place where Promethean can store any superhero-related artifacts that come into his possession, and a place to plan his strategies.

In practice, Promethean used the fortress's isolated nature as a means to impress Prodigious Girl, and to coerce her into an unwanted romantic encounter. Although PG was able to escape, it's heavily implied that she was not the first woman that Promethean brought there.

Denizens

Seemingly none. Prodigious Girl didn't notice anyone else around, and given Promethean's intentions towards her, it seems unlikely he would have any support personnel. However, Promethean is unlikely to leave his fortress unattended, so it's possible he may rely on automated assistants. It is unknown if the Liberty Squadron's artificial intelligence, OverC/R has access to any of the fortresses' components, for instance.

Hazards & Traps

Given its extremely remote location and the fact that Promethean alone seems to know the code to use the teleporation portal used to get there, many might argue that the island itself is a trap. When Promethean brought Prodigious Girl to his fortress and attempted to sexually assault her, the isolated location made it that much harder for her to escape.

Architecture

Apparently alien in nature (or made to look that way), Promethean seems to have designed the fortress with little consideration for their getting about, given the lack of visible staircases. Failing that, access to non-flyers may be governed by an elevator system, which would also aid in keeping certain areas secure from any visitors.

The looks of obsidian and onyx are presumaby a design choice, or perhaps a side effect of how the fortress was created.

Defenses

The island's greatest defense is its secrecy. Since Promethean has managed to keep it secret, there must be a sophisicated stealth shielding in place to keep the island from being discovered.

In addition, the number of alien artifacts and high-tech equipment inside the base suggests powerful defensive systems are likely present.

History

Since it appears on no maps or charts, the entire island seems to have been created artificially somehow, possibly using the same technology by which the evil Doctor Malevolence attempted to sink Australia.
