Promethean is one of the world's most powerful metahumans, and the current leader and one of the founding members of The Liberty Squadron. He is held in extremely high regard by the public, and he has saved the city--and indeed, the entire world--many times over. But he seems to use his sterling reputation as a cover for some of his less savory pursuits.

Much like Prodigious Girl, Promethean's powers are unusual for a metahuman in that they seem to lack a unifying theme. While not unheard of, it is unusual. He claims that this is likely a side effect of his alien heritage, although not everyone is satisfied with this explanation.

To get revenge on Promethean for his attack on Prodigious Girl, Prodigy caused Harpo, one of the Kalothian Genital Parasites, to be forcibily "adopted" by Promethean. The details of what happened afterwards is thankfully unknown.

Personal history

Despite his being around for years, little is definitively known about Promethean's background, and what is known is filled with contradictions. The exact nature of his powers has been the subject of much debate, as well. He claims to be an alien, but many have found that claim to be dubious. However, people have noted that would explain his rather unusual mix of powers for a metahuman, which usually have a tighter unifying theme.

Of course, the elephant in the room that many are quick to point out is how similar Promethean's powers are to the fictional comic book hero, Superman. Promethean has offered no explanation for this, leading some to hypothesize that perhaps he or others of his race somehow provided inspiration for those stories.

Although Promethean carefully cultivates a positive public reputation, he apparently has a thing for teenage girls, even underage ones. He attempted to force himself on Prodigious Girl, and would likely have done worse if she hadn't been able to fight him off.
