Hybrid Talents

There are plenty of ways to explore Hybrid Talents.

Hybrid Talents can manifest as a combination of the Inherited Powers of their parents, or they can hone in on a specific element, and have talents that stem from only one. While their parents' talents may influence them, it should be based on one of the Inherited Powers. One from each parent!

Talents are something a fairy truly specializes in, often related to their passions or hobbies.

Talent discovery is the first step in truly controlling your powers. For some, discovering their talent comes a lot easier to them than others. They may come to learn what they’re passionate about very early in their life, and dedicate the rest of it to honing certain skills. For others, talent discovery may take some time. Maybe some trial and error.

While still searching for one’s talent, fairies without one may struggle more with controlling their powers. The different facets of their inherited power may take them in all sorts of directions until they finally settle upon what truly calls to them.

For Hybrids, this is an especially interesting process, having to manage powers from two separate elements and how to control one or both of them. When learning to control more than one element, they often converge into a Talent that combines the two.

Below are some Talent examples for the many different Hybrid combinations. Feel free to get creative with it! Though remember that talents created by members will automatically fall into the uncommon category, and thus you will need to be Level 5 to properly utilize the talent. For especially powerful talents, we may even categorize it as rare, and will require reaching Level 10 instead.

Hybrid Talents

Earth/Water

• Mud Talents - These fairies work best in muddy conditions, and can control and manipulate mud and any other wet/damp forms of earth.
• Marine Gardener Talents - These fairies specialize in tending to the flora of the lakes, rivers and oceans. Though, they will probably specialize in specifically one of these depending on their location. They can create beautiful underwater gardens.
• Fish and Game Talents - These fairies can communicate with land and underwater animals. They could also fall into being Caretaker Talents , Training Talents , or Veterinary Talents , just with specificity that they work with underwater and land animals.

Earth/Dark

• Deep Earth Talents - These fairies are typically cave explorers, miners, and adrenaline junkies– Fairies with this talent have an affinity for navigating and surviving underground.
• Fungus Talents - These fairies help along decay and maintaining ecosystems, utilizing fungal plants. They are most familiar with working with the various kinds of fungi, like mushrooms and molds.
• Gravedigger Talents - These fairies create the perfect graves for the newly deceased. Digging six feet under is no problem for them.
• Animal Spirit Talents - These fairies can communicate with the spirits of deceased land animals.
• Insect / Animal Talents - These fairies can communicate with insects and land animals. They could also fall into the Caretaker, Trainer, or Veterinary Talents, just with specificity that they work with insects and land animals.

Fire/Earth

• Lava Rock Talents - These fairies have control over igneous rocks and magma. They can manipulate, form, and control it. They can help with the creation of igneous rocks after the lava has cooled to form it.
• Glass Talents - These fairies can melt sand into glass. They then can continue to melt, or blow, the glass into all sorts of different shapes and appearances.

Ice/Earth

• Hibernation Talents - These fairies utilize both their adjustment to the weather, and their ability to communicate with the animals, to help them get settled in for hibernation.
• Winter Garden Talents - These fairies can grow plants despite freezing, snowy conditions. A Winter snowfall won’t stop their garden from blooming!
• Preservation Talents - These fairies aim to preserve the beauty of plant life by encasing it in ice or frost. Sometimes they may freeze something during the Winter seasons and allow it to thaw out in the warmer seasons so the plant never has to wilt away during the cold.

Water/Fire

• Underwater Volcano Talents - These fairies can create and maintain underwater volcanos. Rather than erupting lava, they erupt warm blasts of water and bubbles.
• Geyser Talents - These fairies can create geysers. The water making contact with magma leads to an eruption of hot water and steam.
• Hot Spring Talents - These fairies can create warm pools of water that can reach up to boiling temperatures. But, they can make a relaxing bath.

Sky/Water

• Rain Talents - These fairies use their combined powers to create rain clouds and rain, as well as the rainbows after it all.
• Bubble Talents - These fairies create bubbles above and below water. These bubbles can carry air for fairies that can’t breathe underwater, or they can be used to capture and carry objects around above water.
• Tide Talents - These fairies focus on the moon’s connection to the tide. They are able to pull the tide in the direction of the moon, and their magic is strongest during the night.
• Sailing Talents - With their combined knowledge of the wind, the stars, and the sea, these fairies are especially in tune with the requirements needed to go on an overseas voyage.
• Flying Fish Talents - These fairies can communicate with winged and underwater animals. They could also fall into the Caretaker, Trainer, or Veterinary Talents, just with specificity that they work with underwater and winged animals.

Fire/Sky

• Sun Talents - These fairies use their combined abilities to harness and control sunlight.
• Lightning Talents - These fairies use their combined abilities to create and control lightning.
• Summer Breeze Talents - These fairies create warm breezes, and can heat up the air around them.
• Lava Rain Talents - These fairies can create and control clouds of lava rain.
• Phoenix Friend Talents - These fairies can communicate with phoenixes, and are often the caretaker of one or multiple.

Earth/Sky

• Sandstorm Talents - These fairies, having honed in on controlling specifically sand, are able to conjure storms using wind and any grains of sand from the ground around them.
• Fast Travel Talents - The combined forces of Earth and Sky allow these fairies to master fast travel across both domains easily. They can move the ground beneath their feet, or speed through the air with the breeze.
• Tumbleweed Talents - These fairies help guide stray tumbleweeds back home. They could probably do… other things… but hey, a comedically-timed tumbleweed can go a long way!
• Fall Breeze Talents - These fairies use their wind magic to send leaves through the air. Typically they do this during the Fall, sending the autumn leaves down from the trees and into piles below.
• Sky Garden Talents - Using their combined powers, these fairies are able to maintain gardens high above the clouds in Cosmotelluria and Aliferous. Rather than needing soil, a cloud is enough to sustain plant life.

Dark/Water

• Potion Talents - With their interest in uncanny forms of magic, and an ability to work water with a twirl of their finger, these fairies specialize in potion making.
• Blood Talents - These fairies can maneuver and control blood as though it was water. It can range from creepy theatrics to using this ability for healing.
• Water Illusion Talents - These fairies can create illusions using water, similar to the Dark Fairy Illusion Talent. These illusions often take on a misty appearance, and range in believability.
• Bug Lifeguard Talents - These fairies help rescue the bugs that have fallen into the water, their wet wings and inability to swim preventing them from getting out. They help the insects to dry land and have the best tips and tricks for drying their wings.
• Shipwreck Talents - These fairies have a certain interest in the boats that have been left to the elements underwater, often with fairies long passed on still haunting them. They explore these wrecks and commune with the ghosts still present, and can help bring closure to them and their loved ones.
• Deep Sea Talents - These fairies use their proclivity for darkness and their ability to breathe underwater to maintain the ocean’s darkest depths. These fairies assist the deep sea creatures that require cool, inky waters by keeping them shrouded in shadows.
• Marine Spirit Talents - These fairies can communicate with deceased marine animals.
• Insect / Marine Animal Talents - These fairies can communicate with both insects and aquatic life, though they bear a special affinity to the creepy crawlies that lurk around bodies of water.

Ice/Water

• Water Freezing Talents - These fairies harbor an alternative form of freezing talent where they harness their skills with water and ice to freeze water. Generally, this power is restricted to working with water.
• Freezing Depth Talents - These fairies are able to breathe underwater and are adapted to the coldest temperatures. They can survive living in freezing lakes or oceans, and often carve out holes in the ice so they can take a swim.
• Slushy Talents - These fairies are particularly skilled with conjuring and manipulating the slushy stage between water and snow. Oftentimes, this skill goes hand in hand with the Slope Talents , with fairies skillfully maneuvering the slush under their skis. They also make the meanest slushies and snow cones around!
• Arctic Animal Talents - These fairies can communicate with the marine animals that live in the colder waters, such as seals, orcas, or penguins. They could also fall into the Caretaker, Trainer, or Veterinary Talents, just with specificity that they work with arctic animals.

Fire/Ice

• Freezer Burn Talents
• Frozen Fire Talents - These fairies have mastered the control of both elements and with their touch, fire won’t melt snow. This is helpful in bringing cooler, frozen delicacies to places like Mount Hellion, or making sure an Ice Fairy’s home doesn’t melt when lighting the fireplace inside.

Fire/Dark

• Phoenix Talents - Like a phoenix, these fairies can help things rise from the ashes. They can burn a plant to nothing but ash, only for it to regrow stronger than ever. Some fairies cultivate a stronger version where they can burn and revive more than just plants.
• Fire Illusion Talents - These fairies can create illusions using fire, similar to the Dark Fairy Illusion Talent. These illusions often take on a smoky appearance, and range in believability.

Ice/Dark

• Preservation Talents - These fairies freeze living things to keep them from decaying, or to preserve them in a decayed/decaying state. This can apply to plants just as it can apply to deceased animals or fairies.
• Snow / Ice Illusion Talents - These fairies can create illusions using ice or snow, similar to the Dark Fairy Illusion Talent, and they range in believability.

Sky/Ice

• Snowfall Talents - These fairies can create snowfall, or even more powerful snowstorms. They can guide the snow to fall anywhere they please, and can change its speed to create softer or heavier snowfall.
• Blizzard Talents -  These fairies can create the conditions necessary for blizzards, though their powers certainly don’t have to range so extreme.
• Hail Talents - These fairies can summon clouds of hail or hailstorms. They can also conjure hail from the palm of their hand, or control it as it falls from the sky.

Dark/Sky

• Night Talents - These fairies help with the transition from day into night, bringing darkness to the skies with ease.
• Gloom Talents - These fairies use their cloud powers to create cloudy days, hiding all sunlight. They can also create fog. Anything to create a gloomy environment.
• Sky Illusion Talents - These fairies can create illusions in the breeze or within the clouds, similar to the Dark Fairy Illusion Talents , and they range in believability depending on skill.
• Celestial Graveyard Talents - When a fairy passes on, these fairies use their abilities to maneuver the stars to add a new one to the mix, said to carry the soul of the deceased.
• Wailing Wind Talents - These fairies can create winds that eerily sound like a wailing voice. These are the kinds of winds that leave a tree branch tapping at your window, or cause your door to burst open, but it was nothing but the wind… right?
• Winged Spirit Talents - These fairies can communicate with the spirits of deceased winged animals.
