Cephalan cats Species in Evera | World Anvil

Cephalan cats

The jungle of Damus were once home to many large animals, but nowadays only the Deathwing and the Emerald armored anaconda can be found. The population of larger herbivores (elephants, rhinoceroses, etc.) decreased significantly after Damus' Doom, along with the predators, that hunted them.

Smaller relatives of the Cephalan felines can still be found on the continent today, but they are now only the shadow of the threat, that they ancestors posed to the humanoids living there.

Three giant feline species lived once in the area.

Cephalan leopards:

These spotted big cats hunted mainly in the regions of the present-day Tranquil Dale, Windy Wilds and the Lost Garden. They were lone, nocturnal predators, that sometimes attacked hunting camps and smaller settlements. Their lairs were usually along rivers, which were far avoided by all other creatures.

Cephalan lions:

Cephalan lions were the ancestors of the mountain lions living here today, the males had only a short mane. They were found in every major mountain ranges across the continent. They hunted in packs, mainly the herds of the bison-like, huge Loxodillas. Most time the Dwarves had trouble with them, as they liked to hide in the caves of the mountains, such as the existing mines or those that are about to be opened.

Cephalan tigers:

Cephalan tigers were once the predators of the Heartland, the shores of the Heart Lake. They were seen as the guardians of the continent. The Surta elves never attacked the tigers by themselves, they only fought with the beasts, if the tigers attacked fist. The Cephalan tigers usually lived and hunted in pairs, and they lairs were in dry hollows and caves near the lake.

More information about the Cephalan felines can be found in an ancient druidic collection, held by the Council of Life. The description of the felines was recorded by Cefalan, a Greendragon druid, supplementing the scientific work with numerous drawings. A giant, blue tiger still appears in the tales of the Segaii, as the embodiment of the god or the spirit of the jungle.

Another gorgeous-looking quickie, tight composition and enough detail to make it mysterious but not so little that its bare bones. I'm trying to choose from diff authors but its like real life hit everyone hard like the door-to-door Grim Reaper meme so not everyone got to do similar categories. I notice you leave placeholder hints to add future articles for supplementary species. Except for the eyes on that Leopard the pictures look nice, better than mine my extinct came out of left field from a old doodle on a bakery label XD
