Module Summary
- Arrive at Plot: Arrive on Kytheria with knowledge of the strange, impregnable tower and a contract from the Archive to hunt down whoemever has been using the Thurible to attack the Banners. Popular bet is the Haimarchy.
- Journey to Plot: A long investigation hunting down who is actually behind it and ending up fighting them at the auditorium
- Discover Not Plot: The players learn they have been part of the false narrative. Nick reveals himself and tells the story that they have to get to the secret area
- Journey to New Plot: Getting back through the long drive, getting through the robot-torn city, and getting down into the undeground
- Kill Plot and Win: Beat Dark Destin and reveal the Cradle
Narrative
Summary: The players are brought to the world to hunt down someone who is using stolen Archive Artifacts (Sonnenrad Thurible and the Q Baton, to throw off settlement attempts. The truth is that it's orchestrated by the The Clade of Operant Drama (the Actors) as a way to act as villain to create a drama cycle which inspires the rise of a hero—the party.
They then lure the players into a giant ruined auditorium and the players fight the villain and defeat him. Once he falls the auditorium pillars glow, and the players are assailed by sonnenrad flame. Nick saves them and extinguishes the flame, and explains the truth—that the story so far has been a simulated drama to fulfill the entrance requirement into the kytherian mechanism—a cradle of Anthem, the story shard, or some other term.
This opened the entrance to the undercity in Kkrinth, but the route back wont be easy because the ship they came in on went down. Nick gives them a ride in his hovetruck around the mountains and through the karstway basin back to the city. They have to get undeground (trials and tribulations) through the trapped tunnels and to the final chamber where anthem's cradle is.
When they arrive, the original mentor, destin, corners them to fight. As they take out more and more of his guys and his fire grows out of control, he anre his hounds eventually are consumed by it and become elemental cruelty/rocksweat Lauffeuer.
Upon defeating Destin, the Cradle opens, and the shard of anthem is revealed
At the end, the players have a chance to learn that the whole thing may have been orchestrated. "The True Hero has been found."
Dramas
Poachers
The planet is replete with illegal poachers who are disturbing the ecosystem to trait-farm unique strains of Sazakraht, Synthisaur, and Lōtos Trees, among other things.
They have made the wilderness a dangerous place, both physically and politically, as they tend to exist by exploiting inter-banner laws, causing lots of grief with local law enforcement—Lillian Hesperides
Hedon's Plots
Everyone is wary of Hedon's presence in this world. Hedon rarely makes a gambit to take a planet all their own, but their surprisngly public appearance and the high profile Baron they have aboard has everyone nervous that Desire has her eye on this world to become on of her luxury worlds. Or worse—it may become an Arena Planet.
Thinly Veiled Peace
It seems like nobody really knows what's going on on this young, growing world. One day you get news that the Syndicate is trying to bid everyone else out of the city. The next there's a standoff between the Church and the Federation in the bazaar, and the next you've got a Haimarchy bloodbath on the outside of the city as the families get into a disagreement and settle with ritual combat.
The wildest parts of all banners are here for all to see, intermingling in ways nobody can predict.
Reality TV
The legend of the Last Stage has grown beyond the planet and made its rounds on the Logest Road. Performers of all calibers come to try and open the door, and Hedon takes advantage of it by turning it all into a show. The whole town into a show, in fact, which has the reality tv affect of making people overract. Citizens become stars overnight as they're caught in the showe, as people become fans of their personality, and subscribe to their livestreams to turn them into bigstime stars all their own.
Illicit Pepper Trade
Another reason for Hedon's interest in Kytheria is the growth of a native pepper plant with heavy psychadelic effects. While these recreational effects don't make the pepper illegal, their status as a eco-protected lifeform do.
This, of course, only encourages hedon, who sees rules and regulations the same way a professional runner sees a hurdle
The Patron Bard always wears a smile. They've got something up their sleeve, a new twist to exicte and dare you to search deeper, to try harder, and push the limits of the world around you.
