Testoidean (Tehst oi dee ahn)

The Testoideans, or the 'Alowe 'ae 'Oukoi (meaning "People of the Shell), are a race of turtle people that live in southern, western, and central portions of Eveynjar. They are a long lived, peaceful folk that have vast amounts of knowledge, and due to this they are considered the most intelligent race on Evenea that isn't a race of dragons. Testoidean’s turtle-like appearance also grants them a unique advantage over others, such as a hard shell and faces covered with a keratinous beak. Most other races have a hard time deciphering a Testoidean’s thoughts due to this uniqueness. That beak can also double as a terrifyingly powerful weapon that can shear fingers, extremities, and even entire limbs clean from a body.

Life on the Slow Lane

Due to their descent from the Kellokians or Time Diiv, the Testoideans inherited a portion of their ancestor's longevity, with a singular Testoidean living or a potential 5000 years, longer than any human or elf could ever potentially live for. In fact, this lifespan is so long that if a Testoidean's name comes up in books from a thousand years ago, it is still highly likely the Turtle dude is probably still alive and in the prime of his life.

Also due to this long life, many Testoideans often don't move fast and don't see an urgency in doing things. It may take several hundred years for a Testoidean community to come to a consensus of which color best suits the houses of their neighborhood.

Recorders of the Annals of Time

Due to their incredibly long lives, Testoideans can collect an incredible amount of knowledge, being the equivalent to an entire nation's worth of books. This knowledge is so well regarded that most cities, nations, temples, and any organization employ any and all Testoideans they come across. Due to this, few Testoideans are ever in the need for employment, so seeing one roving the land as an adventurer is often one of the rarest sights in Ethenrea.

Testoidean Language and Names

Testoideans have an incredibly hard time speaking common, having a hard time with vowels that require lips, like b's, f's, m's, p's, and w's, making them sound incredibly odd. Instead, most Testoideans speak Koki, a language derived from their inability to use lips, with m's, w's, and f's being pronounced through the nares, and b's and p's being when a Testoidean snaps their beak closed. Due to this wierd language, Testoidean names also share this weird language's format.

race features:

Dangerous Beak

Your Beak is a lethal weapon. You can use it to attack whenever you would be able to attack a target, dealing 2d4 slashing damage on hit, and the target must make a DC (8 + your Might modifier + unarmed proficiency) Reflex saving throw or be grappled by you (Escape DC equal to initial). While you are grappling a target, you can't use your Beak to attack any other target.

Hold Breath

You can hold your breath underwater for up to 1 hour.

Shell Armor

Due to your shell, you naturally possess incredible armor. Your shell provides you a base AC of 17 (no AGI, FORT, or MIG modifiers to it). You can't wear off-the-rack armor, and the armor you make doesn't grant you any higher or lower AC, but you do gain the bonuses from wearing the sets. Additionally, Your shell scales off of Heavy Armor, and benefits from its effects. You still gain the benefits of a shield.

Legend Lore

Due to your people's incredibly long lifespans, you are proficient and have expertise in the History skill. Additionally, any piece of history that happened within your lifespan can gain the benefits of the Common Sense feature.

Disguised Intentions

Testoideans have advantage on Deception roles due to their lipless beaks and reptilian demeanor.

Large Composure

Due to your people's height and weight, you are considered large. Your hit dice are d10s instead of d8s, and you gain a 8 hit points per level increase.
