Sondiri

The Sondai or Dasbrúmúnag are a race that resemble a combination of Orcs and the Sasquatch in American myth. Native to Western Eveynjar, the Sondai are a race that often ally themselves with Halleans and the Yandiri, and often are found in Hallojar, Yandaijar, Western Empyria, and the Savaboia plain. In their native tongue, the Sondai call themselves the Dasbrúmúnag or Trial Born Men, as they have been subject to many tribulations throughout their history. Even their chief god, Malmadas, is a God of Trials, who rewards them for thriving in tribulation.

Beings of the Wilds

Like the Yandiri and Jondiri, the Sondiri were originally mistaken to be a form of elf, as they possess pointed ears that are generally perceived as the hallmark of a fae-descended race. However, it is now believed that the Sondiri along with their other kin are actually troll-folk, as their bestial blood makes them more aligned with the Whale-trolls seen across Eveynjar, and those also possess thick hair, tusks, and pointed ears.

Unlike the Yandiri and Jondiri, the Sondiri are known for being incredibly resilient, being seen over many different climates of Western Eveynjar and known for their crafting capabities.

Peoples of the Earth

Having lived in Eveynjar since before the Fall of Valoreum, the Sondiri were believed to have had a more expansive range than their modern counterparts, ranging across most of the continent. However, with the creation of many nations, the Sondiri were pushed out to the fringes. This is because of the Sondiri belief system. They believe that structures should be apart of nature and destroying nature for the advancement of urbanization is an affront to their gods, so the Sondiri create settlements by moving earth and creating earthwork buildings. With this conflict of beliefs with other races, the Sondiri were pushed out to the fringe of civilization. Then, when the Raptoran Crisis happened 2500 years ago, instead of raiding the Sondiri settlements, the Raptoran saw them as potential allies, and the two races became synonymous with one another.

Like said earlier, the Sondiri create earthwork buildings, which often then become covered in endemic plants, serving as homes not just for the Sondiri, but for wildlife as well. When Sondiri are within nature, they don't fatigue like many other races do. Instead the unnaturalness of urban areas can grate on Sondiri senses and often fatigue their psyche.

race features:

Thing of the Wilds

Due to their appearance to Whale-trolls, most creatures native to the wild lands see Sondiri as more trouble than they are worth. As long as that creature has a CR lower than half your vocation level, it will prefer other targets or leave you alone.

Hard to Spot

While within dense foliage, you are incredibly hard to spot, granting you advantage on advantage on Stealth checks. Additionally you suffer no reductions to speed or stealth from nonmagical Difficult Terrain.

Keen Mimicry

Your people are incredibly good at mimicking wildlife you are familiar with. A target can only distinguish this mimic if it has a passive Insight of (8 + Performance proficiency + Personality modifier).

Ringing of the Forge

The Sondai make armor, weapons, and tools at half the cost of gold, metal, and other materials. The armor also looks crappy compared to many armors, but it has the Durable trait and +1 AC than other counterparts.

Relentless Endurance

When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. Once you use this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.

Large Composure

Due to your people's height and weight, you are considered large. Your hit dice are d10s instead of d8s, and you gain a 8 hit points per level increase.
