Kastyl

The northern region of Elliaster, Kastyl is as diverse as it is large. It is not controlled by a single duke, but is instead divided into hundreds of small counties and baronies which has given it the colloquial name “The Land of a Thousand Castles”. The area stretches all the way south to the north of the capital, east of Ambarix, and west of the Molierre region. No single landowner has ever managed to unite this region since the time of Enkadu the Great, but many of them have tried to style themselves after him to no avail. Most of the land is either covered in forests or grasslands and produces a large amount of foodstuff, though with all the attempts at conquering usually keep it from actually providing for Elliaster as a whole. Art flourishes here and local laws differ from county to county, but nobles compete with one another to sponsor up and coming artists of all kinds. Many notable painters and musicians have been born somewhere here and their art displayed at royal courts at one time or another. Sensarine, one of the most renowned sculptors of his time during the Enkadu era, decorated the royal palace in both wonderful sculptures of the king and frescos of religious nature. Wilgox the orchestrator of only a few years past regaled the royal court with his tonal pieces and symphonies with wondrous organs powered by priests themselves. The paintings of Armistral in the early era of Elliaster line many of the towers of Ambarix and Ossentum and are a treasure of their area.
