New Year's Resolution 2024 ❄︎
New Years Resolutions
I know it's a bit of a pipe-dream, but I hope to get enough worldbuilding done this year to have the courage to start writing my first novel. I hope to also world-build enough about Talnor that I'll be confident enough to start working on other parts of Eldûra. And, finally, I hope to finish with the CSS of my world, to make it fit the theme and aesthetic of this world. I have high hopes for it :DThe 10 WorldEmber Articles Review...
I do like these follow-up challenges. I love how they give us the opportunity for getting to know other creators' worlds. These are the 10 I chose to review:1.
This is an interesting illness, reminiscent of real-life plagues that have stricken humanity time and time again. I like how it's a science-fiction-esque sickness in a fantasy world—I can't get enough of science-fantasy, and this article is well done.2.
There's a lot of potential in this article and I look forward to reading more if it's updated. Dwarves living under a glacier is something I haven't read of yet, and my mind can't help but picture just how beautiful such a kingdom must look like.3.
This is a really interesting sounding material, and kinda scary too. I wouldn't want to be a Mythral Miner! I love rocks and minerals, but if there was a chance that I might be vapourized or slowly turned into a hunk of mythral...? No thanks! But despite that, this is a really interesting article and was a very interesting read.4.
This is a great article! I like how useful archaeologists are, and how they have a tool that nullifies what amounts to fantasy energy shields (wards) ^_^ The dropcap they have at the beginning of the article is gorgeous! And even though I don't play tabletop RPGs, I like how they included questions that can help players flesh out their characters <35.
I've heard of synesthesia, but I've never considered weaving it into a fantasy world. It reminds me a little of the Dwarven Gemstone Code I created in the summer, but this synesthesia-based language is so much more fleshed out than that. It was an enjoyable and informative read :D There's so much potential for it!6.
I haven't delved much into the myth/legend side of WorldAnvil yet, but outside of WorldAnvil and in the fantasy circles I touch, there are not many myths or prophecies that revolve around family-like creation myths or power creation turning against creator, turning into a threat that could and would eventually destroy the world. The Lord of the Rings/the world of Arda is the only one I can think of off the top of my head (if you know of any more, let me know ;) ). This was a really interesting article. The parent-kids relationship the creator of your world has with their most powerful kids was a nice and warm touch.7.
This sounds really interesting. An island that reminds me of The Mysterious Island (both the Dwane Johnson vers. and the older series I remember catching time to time as a kid). Makes me wonder if any sailors have managed to make it to the island, and have managed to set up a settlement or something. There could be a whole town or something on the island, cut off from the rest of the world by that storm. This is a really cool myth!8.
This myth reminds me of the few aboriginal myths and stories I heard while growing up on the west coast of British Columbia, like the picture book of an aboriginal and his seal friend and how the oil of the seal, after he died, was the source of all the natural gas found off the coast of the province. I hope Vellich will no longer be lonely. I also really like the header picture of this article, it's really neat :D9.
How sad, the implications of this ritual and what happens if you aren't the first to die. I know I will be grief-stricken when my parents pass, but I also know I wouldn't want a piece of them to linger until I also die. It wouldn't be fair. But emotions are rarely fair, and that makes the emotions in this article real.10.
Ice Silver sounds gorgeous! I would have a sword made of it, or maybe even some jewelry! It kind of reminds me of that one Inuit tribe that confused most of the explorers who came across them, since they found a meteoroid in the ice and used the iron in it to make weapons and tools when all their peers only had bone ones. Great article!Everyone did so well with their WordEmber this year, even if some (like me, lol) were unable to finish ❤️. I've had a lot of fun reading your articles and I look forward to reading more :D
Thank you for including my article in your list! <3 I hope 2024 is full of excellent new things for you!
Seek a new dawn, in Malkora!
The Feral Sovereign sleeps peacefully, but will return...
