1. Generating Ability Scores

The first step is finding out your Characters ability scores, you can read about how to do that from the link above.

2. Choose your Race

After getting your ability scores, you will select your Race, which defines several aspects of your character. Check out the list above to decide which race you will be apart of.

3. Choose your Class

There are several classes to choose from, and this will define how your character will develop, and what abilities you will gain access to.

4. Choose your Background or Profession

There are many varieties of backgrounds, that bestow benefits and additional equipment. Read through the options form the link above, and select one. If you have something else in mind, discuss this with your DM.

5. Choose you Spells and Abilities

Each Class has Subclasses, and many have spells and abilites to choose from. Read through your selected class to find out the intecracies you will need to select.

6. Decide your Flaws Ideals and Bonds

Each character needs a few Flaws, Ideals, and Bonds. As well you will want to select your fear. You should also use this stage to decide how your character appears, dresses, in general how your character is presented.

7. Select your Alignment

House Rules leave alignment as more of a guide line of how your character choose to act, rather then a hard and fast rule to choose how you will behave. Though if your character behaves differently for long enough, the DM may assign you a new Alignment that fits the present representation of your Character.

8. Creating a Backstory

Creating a Backstory allows you to really know who your character, the page above has questions that should be answered from your characters point of view, and will help you form your character's personalitly and history in your mind. After you answer these questions, the DM and you may go over them to fit it all into the history of the world.

9. Select your Equipment

Here you can look over the equipment and items available to your character, your characters Class and Background and profession tells you the equipment you start with, but often leaves some choices to choose between, and this page will help you with that. You may also have some funds, while you may want to save that for the start of the game, if there is something you wish to purchase prior, you can talk to the DM about it!
