Flaws, Ideals, and Bonds in Eldridth | World Anvil

Flaws, Ideals, and Bonds

Your character should have some defined aspects. These things help build a real feeling character, and the help you understand how they will react in different circumstances. Defining theses help your DM build stories for your character to interact with.

Flaws

There is always something that causes people to put themselves in trouble, or makes them edge on peoples nerves. Try and find something that is likely to come up during the course of an adventuring day now and again, but not something that will leave you acting against your own benefit all the time. There are idea's that are presented in your backgrounds to help you decide on this.

Ideals

There is something that drives people to adventure, to action. This aspect is what motivates you to do something about the state of the world. This should be a motive of some sort. There are idea's that are presented in your backgrounds to help you decide on this.

Bonds

There is something that ties a person to the world. Deciding on your Bond should be how your character is connected to the world at large. This can be a individual, a organization or some other concept. There are idea's that are presented in your backgrounds to help you decide on this.

Fears

A fear needs to be something that can be encountered during a adventure, but not something that will constantly leave you unable to act. A adventurer is not a coward, but even the bravest individuals will have something that sets them to be afraid. Bravery is not being fearless, but overcoming your fears. Work with your DM if you need any clarity on how to come up with a fear.
