GHG Session 36: Sticks, Plants, and Ponds

General Summary

Month 1, Week 1, Year 919
The Fortunate Five ushered in the new year by rescuing a violent flameskull from the inside of a 600-year-old tree. Zan'kiri managed to chop it down with his carpentry tools without damaging any of the skull or the walking stick it was stuck to. The party agreed to help out the stick (named Thranoslav) so long as he didn't attack the party, with Beguiler having the honor of carrying him around like a more dangerous bindle stick.    That afternoon the party came across a small pond full of treasures and magic items, but some experiments with Zan'kiri's skeleton Poncho showed that the pond got deeper the further someone dived into it. Different ideas were discussed to dig a hole and reach the pond's base from a different angle, but Zan'kiri's 'Catapult' proved to do the trick along with Beguiler's 'Levitate' to lift out most of the gems and items. The gems proved to be worth 50GP each, and the items could do everything from letting a person breath fire to magically increasing the wearer's intelligence. There was some debate over how the items should be divvied up, but it was agreed that Ysmyrelda should take the Cap of Intellect despite how its goofiness would clash with her custom-Leo Mancini wardrobe.    That evening the party finally made it to the edge of the woods near the Teardrop, a place where brave pilgrims sometimes journeyed to purify themselves at its sacred waters. Before the party could get any respite though, they found themselves in a fight with a ravenous plant screaming 'FEED ME' in Deep Speech. Smaller podlings started to attack the party and their carriage, but Reetma managed to run interferance against the podlings while Windred transformed Zan'kiri into a giant ape to battle the main plant with an even larger blade.    Bubbles and Beguiler managed to fight back the podlings around the carriage, and once the main plant was defeated the rest of podlings quickly withered and died. A white dragonborn named Voridus was rescued from the plant's toothy maw, but after making some off-putting comments at Windred he wasn't invited to sleep in the Tiny Hut that night. Ranger Smith disappeared not long after, chasing some glowing lights and leaving behind most of their scant belongings.  The party set up camp after a second day of crazy enounters in the Koulan Forests, Windred taking some time to herself to swim and meditate in the Teardrop's waters...
