Danþyl

Danþyl is one of the major settlements in Malónat, one of the three countries of the Útels in Ela'k Forest, as well as its southernmost city. Located on the southeastern shore of Zaþil Lake, Danþyl is a major hub of activity in the region, both as the main settlement of the local Zakeran tribe and due to the fact that three major roads intersect there: one leading southwest to the town of Kelúra and the subterranean realm of the Jaarels beyond; another to the country of Kanot to the northwest; and a third to the rest of Malónat to the northeast.
There's also a fourth route leading east to the country of Kaiqonon, though that one is far less travelled as it cuts through a long stretch of wilderness teeming with Ölan Panthers.

Industry & Trade

The city, along with the town of Þókanar across the lake, is a major producer of vipló fruits and by extension a kind of wine flavoured with said fruit, known as vipló'þil, as vipló trees can only grow in the area around Zaþil Lake. Giant salamanders are also raised in the lake in great numbers for their meat and eggs, the latter which are a local delicacy.

History

Danþyl is one of the oldest settlements founded by the Útels, and functioned as capital of the city-state of Zaker before the Útels were unified some 7000 years ago.
