Guild notice—application information pack
Beyond how awe-inspiring the rune guild itself is, one of the major attractions of joining us is undoubtedly the privilege of working inside such an amazing historical building right in the centre of the wonderful city of
Esteille. All of our members are at the heart of the most important research and innovations happening on this continent and have at their disposal state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure as well as many other perks.
A historical building
History
Our kingdom's strength comes from its long cultivation of a thriving research & innovations culture, & all of the guilds have always been at the center of this.
This is why the guilds are housed at the center of Esteille, right next to the
king's palace, & why their buildings have become so symbolic of
Nélannie's might.
Architecture
The guild building uses the same simple elegant style that was used to build the palace, all guild buildings, & most
noble houses in Esteille.
It is made of a lot of symmetrical lines, high ceiling, & marbles everywhere.
The building has 6 floors above ground & 3 below.
Rune shenanigans
All past guild members have contributed to the
runes that cover the walls of the building, making it the best architectural rune work in Nélannie.
Among them are wards for temperature control, for protection against dangerous magic, for magical isolation to avoid contaminating experiments, & for sound to keep conversation secret.
The perfect workplace
Offices
Furnished with wide desks, cupboards warded for secrecy, & ergonomic chairs brimming with comfort magic.
All guild members share offices with their colleagues, guaranteeing a collaborative atmosphere. Senior members have their own office perfect for the privacy required for sensitive innovations, political discussions, scheming, & trysts.
Laboratory—typical
A dedicated large bench space for the special use of each guild member.
Fitted with wards that protect the building & with wards that contain experiments & protect the experimenter.
A state-of-the-art communal storage space with wards that protect & preserve all ingredients.
Laboratory—extra
Those who pulls in a lot of money with their
funding have fancy labs with even more space & more quality.
They have their own storage space in their lab that they can personalise & adapt to their ingredients.
They also have special containment space to keep live animals & plants.
A placee you can proudly share with collaborators
Meeting rooms
A number of very fancy & comfortable rooms richly decorated where we can entertain nobles & wealthy patrons without shame.
They also contain their own additional rune work with for example wards protecting against assassination and wards to prevent anyone from speaking out of turn.
Unique decoration
A water basin in the entrance hall with carnivorous fish & a basin for their prey.
Every day they get fed
one fish & all guild members have a lot of fun on betting on which fish is going to eat it—we all have carved little runes on the scales of our favourites to recognise them. The winner of the bet get extra chocolate for lunch.
Other perks
A big
library with all books and articles ever published in Nélannie about
runes. We have many non-guild member rune masters & private citizens who request special permission to consult it.
A cantine which serves high cuisine at lunch time. The food is of such quality that even the royal family sometimes deign eat here with us.
Any rune master would be honoured to join the rune guild and settle in in such a wonderful building—but unfortunately we only accept the most skilled and dedicated masters to join our ranks. So do not wait any longer to start your application!
Trysts, eh? Those carnivorous fish must be very hungry. Don't fall in the water. O_O
In an article for Dani, I had to mention the trysts :p Dont worry for the fish, I forgot to mention it (and now I don't have space left for it), but they don't need to eat very often so they're not being starved. And there are wards around the basin, although I'm sure accidents could still find a way to occur :p
