Guild notice—Dealings with the enchanting guild

In light of the recent disgraceful confrontation between one of our masters and those of the enchanting guild, our Lady Director has found it necessary for all of our members to receive guidelines on how to deal with the enchantment guild in a dignified manner worthy of the rune guild. All interactions with them should end with our honour at the bare minimum intact, at best increased.

Prestige

After collaborations, enchanters like to keep all the credits to themselves.   Be very careful not to let them! You have to guard the honour of the rune guild!

Manners

Enchanters are annoying & arrogant & will test your patience.   Don't descend to their level! Show politeness and manners worthy of the rune guild!

Challenges

Avoid direct competitions with enchanters.   We all work for the same country—and more importantly, we have nothing to prove & this would only make us look petty!

The enchanting guild

Fair play

No fair play!   Do not give them a chance or makes things more equal. We are simply superior & there is no reason to hide this!   And you better win.

Fights

Don't descend into public fisticuffs, no matter the provocations.   But if the other side attacks first, make sure everyone nearby has noticed this, then ends the fight.

Affaires

Personal relationships between us & them should be avoided.   If you absolutely must, do remember where your first loyalty should lay!

Conclusion: The rune guild is, of course, the most important and prestigious of all artefact-making guilds; the enchanting and alchemy guilds are condemned to play second fiddle to us. However, some of our politicians are bound to occasionally forget this simple fact if we do not take care of regularly reminding them.   This is why letting the quality of our artefacts speaks for themselves is not enough; our behaviour needs to be beyond reproach in order to get more than our fair chair of research funding. If members of the enchanting guild are being rude, think about your decreasing orichalcum reserve!   If appeals to your good sense are not enough, the Lady Director will intervene in person and make sure you do not have any more occasion to embarrass us...

Hahaha.   If you truly were the best, you wouldn't have to keep saying it. ;)

It's only for the few members who didn't get the memo :p You got to hammer it into their head while in private and play it all cool and unconcerned while in public XD

yes ma'am! (sounds like someone was in a relationship with an enchanter and they broke up real bad...)

Check out Natural Magic : a coming of age fantasy novel, because life is hard enough when you're fourteen, even without saving the world. Or listen to it in podcast form .

Thanks XD Public fight might be uncouth, but it's nothing compare to the humiliation of losing said fights! XD
