Ethereal Plane

The Ethereal plane or the Force/Space Field is the field that forms the geometry of the universe. Gravity is caused by the ethereal elemental lines. The direction and number determine the force and direction of gravity.
Because it is believed that all other planes exist within the Astral whirlpool the ethereal plane is the largest plane. There are two types of structure:

Astral Whirlpool

The space between the stars. the astral whirlpool exists outside of the other planes of existence. Or the planes of existence exist within the Astral whirlpool. When traveling trough the Astral Whirlpool some stars can be reached. These portals lead to other planes of existence.
The Astral whirlpool got its name from the whirlpool like structures that build the night sky. All the stars revolve in one of six cones. The North Mayor cone and the south mayor cone both stay fixed throughout the day and night cycle. The four other cones rotate and are perpendicular to the North South axis and each-other. Each cone spans 120 degrees of the night sky and revolve at their own rates.

Ethereal plane

Every plane is given structure by the Ethereal plane. This background structure can be entered by spells and other abilities. Here creatures almost exclusively interact with the plane of force. So walls that exist on the plane of origin are seen but not felt in the ethereal plane.

Interwoven planes

All planes interact with the Ethereal plane except the Mindscape. A special connection with the plane of radiance is speculated because all portals emit some form of light which we can see in the night sky.

Temperament. Ethereal genasi are stable as their element mostly is. Often absent minded. When they move they become slightly lighter and their movements seem unnatural. This is best seen when they fall as they literally fall slower. When they want to stay grounded they become heavier and locked to the ground. Ethereal genasi often like looking out at the night sky feeling the connection to the Etherial Plane more clearly than during the day.
Appearance. Ethereal genasi have an otherworldly look to them. Some show marks that look like stars or the night sky either on their skin or their eyes. Skin hues are often darker tones of black or purple. Some have translucent gem like structures embedded in them.
Slow fall. You can fall 20 feet without taking damage by reducing gravity.
Shape Space. You know the Magic Missile spell and can cast it once with this trait as a first level spell. Once you reach 3rd level you can cast the Misty Step spell once with this trait, requiring no material components, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Force resistance. You have resistance to force damage.

Languages. Quelan the Ethereal dialect of primordial is composed of very low bass sounds. It takes a lot longer to say things in Quelan than you typical language.
