The Corrupt War Era 11-21 ADW

End of the Dragon War

The Protectors of the Realm finally finish crafting the The Crown Of Wishes. After it was completed, they decided to give the crown to King Amon Draconis. Amon, during the battle of Dragonfall, used the crown to summon Bahamut , the dragon god of justice. With Bahamut's help, the Daledon Army was able to defeat Klauth and end the The Dragon War.

Peace Never Lasts

After the Dragon War, peace was throughout Daledon between 1 ADW and 10 ADW. But soon, war once again emerged. King Amon Draconis was slowly being corrupted by The Crown Of Wishes. Questions he had stuck in his mind consumed him, and he slowly became obsessed with power and swore Klauth was talking to him in his sleep. He feared the return of Klauth and wanted to take control of Daledon himself to prepare for Klauth's return. Amon at first tried to talk to the leaders of Daledon to convince them of the idea of one leader. But too much time had passed, and the Daledon Army disbanded. Amon decided to take Daledon by force. Starting a new war in 11 ADW. Amon, at first, struggled to gain any territory because most of his good soldiers died during The Dragon War, and his new soldiers were undertrained and young. Upset with his army's performance, Amon turned to The Crown Of Wishes once more and took control over the dragons that were still alive from the Cult of Klauth. With this wish, he became more corrupt and weakened his physical and mental strength even more. He began to have more dreams with Klauth and was sometimes seen talking to himself.   With the help of the dragons, Amon gained a tremendous amount of territory from 13 ADW - 17 ADW. To the west he entered the Crimson Flatlands enslaving human males and conquering Neles the capital of Vastor after the Battle of Neles. To the east, Amon dominates the Dunelands of Ugno, recruiting orcs who were willing to join Amon’s army. Amon did not adventure to Dun Doral to the north because he would not risk provoking the dwarfs into conflict. Amon believed by provoking the dwarfs, the dwarfs would then help the protectors of the realm create another crafty gadget to stop Amon’s warpath. But in 18 ADW, Amon builds 1000 ships to start the invasion of Eathlain. Amon commands his son Prince Argo Draconis to lead these ships Northeast across the Plywin Sea into the elven territory of Eathlain. Just outside the mainland of Eathlain, at the Gulf of Walsgue more than half of Amon's ships were destroyed by the Osivia Empire in the naval battle of The Drowning at Walsgue. Argo manages to escape and returns to Dragonfall and tells Amon of the failure.   After this failure of the invasion of the elven kingdom of Eathlain, Amon has a dream where the Osivia Empire prepares to do a ritual that would bring Klauth back from the dead. That morning, Amon and his dragons quickly head to Eathlain, and the great tragedy of The Burning of Three Cities happens. After this historical event. The Protectors of the Realm takes notice that Amon's corruption has gone too far and reach out to the leaders of Daledon to discuss a plan to stop Amon.

A Meeting in Ruins

The Protectors of the realm Along with the king of Eathlain King Mordin LIghtspell ruler of the Osivia Empire, King Cedrick Williamson the ruler of Vastor, Jortor Ortor the overlord of the cave gnomes located in the Deepstone Mountains of Gibba Mons and the Forge Master of Dun Doral Gulbek Frostchin to a secret meeting in the small town of Ifslon just outside the ruins of Elerion the capital of eathlain. Amongst the ruins, these influential leaders discuss options for stopping Amon. After hours of debate and arguing, the leaders decided that one strong possibility and the highest chance of success of dethroning the corrupt king would be his assassination from within his inner circle or family. They soon realized a likely candidate for such an action would be Prince Adaon Draconis, Amon's younger brother. Adaon was not shy about his dislike for Amon and disagreed with how things were going in Incendium.

The Coup

In 19 ADW, before the Protectors of the Realm chose the plan to assassinate King Amon, they first tried to kill him in other ways. After all attempts to get rid of Amon failed, they turned to the plan to have Prince Adaon Draconis kill Amon after several attempts to contact Adaon secretly. They finally were able to send a message to him. Adaon suggests that to stop Amon completely, they must get rid of Amon’s closest family: his wife Queen Alta Draconis and his sons Argo and Almit. The Protectors of the Realm agreed to do so and started planning a coup. They all understood catching Amon off guard must be fast and smooth. They successfully kill Almit Draconis, and Queen Alta Draconis . But Prince Argo Draconis manages to escape to Isahil .

The Prince of Deception Argo

Argo convinces the human citizens of Isahil that the protectors of the realm are hell-bent on taking power from the rightful ruler. The citizens side with Argo and agree to harbor and protect the prince. The protectors of the realm try several more times to kill young Argo, but all attempts fail. Argo slowly puts together allies to strengthen his position in Isahil. He then starts a revolution in Isahil between the human citizens and the elven citizens of Isahil. The human citizens call Argo their lord and attack the castle of Isahil. Argo kills Isahil's thane, Jannalor Shacan (an elf), and becomes the new thane. The elven citizens flee Isahil, and the city becomes under Argo's control.

Oh How the Mind Corrupts

When King Amon’s family and some of his close advisors were massacred, King Amon was furious, switching his focus to stopping the people responsible for these murders. King Amon uses the crown of wishes once more to destroy his enemies. But this wish is too powerful for the corrupted, weak king; the wish fails and severely injures King Amon to the point of being unable to stand. This also leads to Amon's total insanity. Despite this, King Amon Draconis was able to cause some harm to his enemies, leaving a scar on everyone who was a part of the coup. The fragile King Amon writes a letter to his son Prince Argo Draconis and his brother Prince Adaon Draconis for their support. The protectors of the realm plan a fake assassination on Adaon to make sure Amon believes Adaon is on his side. After this phony attempt on Adaon's life, he writes a letter to his brother saying he will meet Amon in Dragonfall to discuss plans to destroy the protectors of the realm. Protectors of the Realm realize this is the perfect time to plan the assassination of King Amon. They tell Adaon he must go to Dragonfall to kill his brother Amon. At first, Adaon had second thoughts. But was reminded of the horrors his brother had inflicted in Daledon. The protectors of the realm also blackmail Adaon and threaten to release the notes Adaon sent to them in which he talks about the plans for the coup and his dislike for King Amon. Adaon and 5 of his most trusted knights quickly ride off to Dragonfall from Dragow. Amon's letter to his son Argo never arrives in Isahil.

Dinner of Dragons

Prince Adaon Draconis arrives at Dragonfall with open gates and the best hospitality. King Amon is entirely unaware of his brother’s plan to kill him. Amon invites his brother to the dragon dungeon, where he keeps the dragons of the Cult of Klauth. He tells Adaon about his visions of the new world of Luxterra and explains that the Protectors of the realm plan to bring back Klauth. He then explains his plans to stop them. Adaon can’t seem to tell if Amon knows he is working for the protectors of the realm. He thinks about killing his brother in the dragon dungeon but backs down.   Later that evening, Amon invites Adaon and his knights to a grand feast. During dinner, King Amon, in his weak state, stands up very slowly to make a toast to his brother. As Amon is talking, his speech turns into hate-filled nonsense about how, with Adaon on his side, he will conquer the world and crush the Protectors of the Realm and stop the return of Klauth. At this point, Adaon realizes that his brother’s corruption has consumed him. He stands up and walks over to Amon as if he was about to hug his brother. Instead of a hug, King Amon receives a dagger into his side. As Amon stands there in total shock, Adaon looks into Amon's eyes and says, “You made me do this, brother; you have been corrupted beyond repair." Amon, now bleeding heavily, looks down at Adaon's arm and notices a huge scar on his arm, which is holding the dagger. Amon realizes Adaon is in the pockets of the protectors of the realm. Amon looks up at his brother. And whispers “traitor” and collapses to the ground.

Brother, Traitor, and Now King

Moments after the king's death, two men suddenly appear and rush to the body. Adaon, in total shock at what he just did, does not move a muscle. The two men remove The Crown Of Wishes from Amon's head and run to the back exit into the streets of Dragonfall. Suddenly, Adaon felt a hand on his shoulder, and a hooded man said, "Good job, Adaon, we did it." Adaon turns around to see one of the Protectors of the Realm.   Months later, Adaon is crowned the new king of Incendium. His claim to the throne is uncontested. The Protectors of the Realm took The Crown Of Wishes because they were afraid of having a repeat of Amon with Adaon. Now, the Protectors of the realm debate what to do with the crown. On the one hand, the crown is too powerful and could someday cause the end of the world, but on the other hand, it could help prevent the end. After weeks of debate, they concluded that the crown must be destroyed. They try to destroy the crown, but its magical powers prevent it from being completely destroyed. The best next option was to take apart the crown piece by piece and scatter it worldwide so that the crown would be nearly impossible to ever be used again. So, with the help of a mighty mage and the best Drawven blacksmiths, the crown was taken apart gem by gem until all that was left was a simple crown of gold with no magical elements. The gems were scattered around the world, with no one knowing the locations. Or so it seemed at the time.
