The Dragon War

The Dragon War was the longest war in Daledon, starting at 20672 DE and ending at 20700 DE. The Dragon War was fought between the dragons of Daledon and the People of Daledon. This war was the turning point of civilization because it was the first time in Daledon's history that all the kingdoms united under a singular goal. All other conflicts across Daledon were halted during this war to stop the dragons.

The DRAGON HORDE

The leader of the Dragon Horde was an ancient red dragon named Klauth. He was also the leader of the Cult of Klauth. Klauth had six generals who were also members of the cult. His six generals were: Aurus, Merothrax, Karrundax, Grax , Arharzel and Ferzath. Each general commanded a group of lesser dragons. The horde also used Kobolds and Drakes as foot soldiers.

THE DALEDON ARMY

The Daledon Army consisted of the armies of the kingdoms of Eathlain, Incendium, Vastor, Dun Doral and Gibba Mons. The leader of the Daledon Army was King Aithne Draconis the ruler of Incendium. Since Aithne was Dragonborn he was able to command a powerful dragon Karus. The Draconis Empire led the Daledon Army because the elite members of the empire were all able to command dragons, which were crucial in the fight against the wild dragons.

A WAR BEGINS

In 2672 DE in a small town of Incendium a dragon attack is reported. Dragon attacks at this time were not uncommon. In fact, at this time in history, dragon attacks happened nearly every day on a small scale and were usually random. But this attack seemed different; two survivors of the attack reported that three dragons were seen talking to each other during the attack. They also reported the dragons took what they needed and left, which was unusual because typically when dragons attack, they kill everyone in their path. These reports were sent to King Aithne Draconis where he speaks to his advisors and his dragon Karus about the report. At the time, they did not seem concerned about the attack and told the king not to worry.
Weeks later, another attack was reported; this time, two dragons attacked a military camp. During the attack, the dragons only killed three soldiers, but what stuck out about this attack was that they only stole a sword used by the Dragon Slayers called Dragonsbane. Nothing else at the military camp was taken. When receiving this report, Aithne's advisors were intrigued. Such planning and thought could not come from a lesser dragon, for lesser dragons usually lack intelligence and act out on simple animal instincts.
A few days after the report, A huge red dragon was spotted outside of Dragonfall. Karus (Aithne's dragon) flew off towards this dragon. When Karus finally reached the dragon, he realized who the dragon was. The giant red dragon spotted was Klauth, an ancient dragon not seen for hundreds of years. Karus quickly knew Klauth was behind the two recent attacks. Karus flew closer to Klauth; the two dragons conversed in their native dragon tongue. During this conversation, it is said that Klauth told Karus his plan to take over Daledon for his dragon brethren. Klauth tried to convince Karus to join the Cult of Klauth , a group that dedicated their lives to him. Karus declined and flew home to Dragonfall. When he returned home, King Aithne asked Karus what was going on. Karus replied, "War is coming, my friend, a war against dragons. We must prepare.".

WAR AGAINST DRAGONS

A few months after the meeting of two dragons, a new report of a large horde moving on the city of Krok Near the border of Incendium and Vastor. Another report comes into Dragonfall saying Krok was under attack by a horde of Kobolds and Drakes and two dragons. King Aithne Draconis, and 2 of his Dragonborn cousins call upon their dragons and head to Krok.
When the Draconis family reached Krok, they found the city in an all-out siege. The Incendium soldiers stationed at Krok were caught off guard but held their ground against the Dragon Horde. But as the dragons got involved in the fight, they began to turn the tides of the battle. King Aithne and his dragon Karus helped push back the horde, killing hundreds of ground troops. Meanwhile, in the sky, Aithne's cousins and their dragons fought the two dragons of the dragon horde. Borjn Aithne's cousin slew the dragon Orked. The other dragon, Orlot, escaped and fled to Klauthen Vale Klauth's lair. This was considered the first battle of the Dragon War.

A UNITED WORLD

After countless battles were fought across Daledon. The leaders of Daledon decided to unite their armies. The Daledon Army was created. At first, the armies of Daledon were unorganized and did not work together well. Soon, King Aithne Draconis would step in and take charge of the largest army Daledon has ever seen. By 2680 DE, the Daledon Army was a well-organized machine. They successfully stopped several attacks from the Dragon Horde, but the Dragon Horde was just getting started. In 2685 DE, the first significant victory happened for the Dragon horde, as they were able to destroy the city of Gury, a city in Vastor. Gury was one of the main cities that produced weapons for the Vastorain Army. By destroying this city, they effectively weakened the troops in Vastor. After this victory, the Dragon Horde followed up with another victory in 2687 DE. With the destruction of the Bleakwater Mines, one of Vastor's most crucial mines that produced materials for the Vastorain Army. Later that year, Vastor sought help to get materials from the Draconis Empire and offered to send Incendium Vastor's whole supply of Dragonite a magical material the Draconis Empire needs for a secret project. The Draconis Empire agreed to the deal and started to prepare shipments to be sent and received from Dragonport to Neles. But the Cult of Klauth somehow found out about this agreement and planned to intercept these shipments.

FROM VASTOR TO INCENDIUM

2689 DW Vastor is ready to send their first shipment of Dragonite to Dragonport but Vastor is not aware that the Cult of Klauth knows about these shipments. On the third day of Odar, the first shipment arrives in Dragonport. But so does Klauth and his dragon horde, thus the Battle of Dragonport commences.

CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP

After the first battle of Dragonport and the death of King Aithne Draconis, his son King Amon Draconis takes control over the Daledon Army. On the 20th day of Odar, Daledon as a whole supported the decision to make Amon the leader of the Daledon Army. During this day, Amon and his dragon Adror helped protect the city of Dragonport once more. During this 2nd battle, the Dragon Horde desperately tries to destroy all the Dragonite still in the city. Amon and his dragon were able to to kill one of Klauth's generals, Karrundax. When Karrundax was slayed, the horde of Kobolds and Drakes retreat. It would take several more months for the dragon horde to heal from this loss entirely.

CULT OF KLAUTH

The Cult of Klauth after the loss during the 2nd battle of Dragonport was hell-bent on destroying the Dragonite. The cult feared that the Draconis Empire was using the dragonite to create a device to stop the dragons secretly. Grax , a member of the cult and a dragon who could take human form was sent as a spy to Incendium , there he was able to figure out the next shipment of dragonite from Vastor. The cult then plans an ambush on the convoy of ships transporting the Dragonite to Incendium.

THE LOST SHIPMENT OF DRAGONITE

In 2692 on the 25th day of Ojun the Cult of Klauth ambushes the Vastorian convey at the Rolling Sea The convoy was well prepared for any attack being guarded by two dragons supplied by the Draconis Empire . The convey also was equipped with the brand new ballistas built by the Osivia Empire. During this ambush, Klauth and 2 of his generals Aurus and Merothrax attacked the convey, Klauth used his magical powers to create a whirlpool that the ships were unable to get out of. Aurus, the 2nd in command, used his magic to put the humans aboard the ship into a confused state. After a few minutes, the vastorian convey was completely trapped. Meorthrax flew down to the ships to look for the dragonite; he soon realized Klauth had made a grave mistake. Instead of the ships being filled with dragonite, the ships were filled with barrels of tnt. The humans aboard the ships suddenly vanished. Meorthrax turns around and looks up; he sees Adror. Adror used his powerful magic to create holograms aboard the ships. Moments later, the tnt in the barrels detonates, blowing up all the ships and killing Merothrax in the process.
Filled with rage Klauth flys after Adror, Adror a younger dragon was much faster then Klauth and easily escapes. As Klauth flies high in the air, he notices a couple of ships in the middle of the Wondering Ocean. He quickly flies towards the ships. This time, he finds the real convoy. Klauth wastes no time and breathes fire upon the ships, torching them in a blaze of bright red fire. Aurus soon joins Klauth, and together, they torch every ship. Slowly, each ship starts to sink. Adror and the other dragon arrive at the attack too late. When they arrived, all but one ship was still above the water. The rest of the convoy was sunk to the bottom of the ocean along with the dragonite.
Over the next couple of years, more shipments of Dragonite were ambushed by the Cult of Klauth, most of all of the ambushes were successful and tons of dragonite was either destroyed or lost at sea. Because of this, the Draconis Empire and the Vastorian Empire abandoned their joint project that depended on the dragonite. Hope to defeat the Dragon Horde was rapidly decreasing as the cult was able to attack anywhere in Daledon successfully.

HOPE AT LAST

In 2695, Daledon's confidence in stopping the dragon war was at its lowest. But just like many other parts of Daledon's history, the Protectors of the Realm step in to help the realm. They understood the Daledon Army would not defeat the dragons in usual conventions. The protectors of the realm begin brainstorming other possibilities. They come up with several solutions, trying most of them to no prevail. They turn to one of the smartest men in all of Daledon: Vaton Shadowblood. Vaton and a couple more wizards debate for hours on a solution for the war. Vaton is quoted saying, "If only we could wish for all the dragons to stop being such cunts.". The other wizards look at Vaton as if to say, "Yes, let's do that". Soon, the plans for The Crown Of Wishes were created.

MEANS TO AN END

As the plans for the The Crown Of Wishes start in 2697, many kingdoms of Daledon try to pitch in where they can. Vaton Shadowblood along with Gulbek Frostchin the forge master of Dun Doral start the construction of the crown in a secret location in Dun Doral.

BATTLES FOR DALEDON

While the crown is secretly constructed, the Cult of Klauth plan their next attack. Using his wisdom as the oldest dragon in the realm, Klauth is able to manipulate and convince several more dragons to fight for the Dragon Horde. At this time, the Dragon Horde consists of 25 dragons, including Klauth, enough to attack every kingdom in Daledon.
On the 12th day of Oldir, The Cult of Klauth and the Dragon Horde attack all six major kingdoms of Daledon. Klauth sends four dragons to each kingdom. This sudden attack throws Daledon into chaos. The gnomes of Gibba Mons were unprepared for the attack, quickly surrendering. In Vastor, several cities burned to the ground. But the Vastorian Empire were able to kill three dragons, including one of Klauth's generals Grax . In Eathlain an intense battle erupts, lasting three days. After it was over, several cities of the Osivia Empire were seriously damaged but not completely destroyed. The kingdom of Ugno took the worst beating in the war. After the battle in Ugno, more than half of the Orchis tribes were destroyed. Since Ugno was not a part of the Daledon Army, no aid was sent to help the survivors of the attack.

BATTLE OF DRAGONS

Three days after the initial attacks throughout Daledon Klauth and the Cult of Klauth realize in order to truly rule Daledon that must take their homeland Incendium for themselves. So the Cult of Klauth decides to attack Incendium at Dradevows and Dragonstar. By taking Dragonstar, the cult would significantly weaken the Draconis Empire's magical abilities, and by attacking Dradevows, they would weaken the Draconis Empire's ground forces. With this in mind, the Cult of Klauth attacked Dradevows. Klauth sends two generals along with six lesser dragons. His dragons are met by the dragons of the Draconis Empire : Adror Amon's dragon, Pondan, his uncle's dragon, Ralrus his advisor's dragon and Uvug the second oldest dragon in all of Daledon. Soon, the battle of dragons commenced. The citizens of Dradevows watched as 12 dragons battled above the city. Witnesses say that the battle was both spectacular and terrifying. During the battle, the castle of Dradevows was completely destroyed, the thane of Dradevows was killed, and only 4 of the 12 dragons remained. This successful attack on Dradevows opened more opportunities for the cult's attack on Dragonstar since the Draconis Empire would not be able to muster more reinforcements. After the battle at Dradevows, Klauth's two generals met up with the Klauth at Dragonstar to help prepare for the attack there. Adror returns to Amon at Dragonstar and Uvug flys to Dragow to try to convince Prince Adaon Draconis to join the fight.

BATTLE OF DRAGONSTAR

The successful attack of Dradevows set up a perfect seige at Dragonstar. Without being able to call for nearby ground reinforcements, the army at Dragonstar would have to defend the city alone. The cult's strategy would be to keep sending hordes of Kobolds and Drakes until they would eventually overpower Dragonstar's ground troops.
On 18th day of Oldir, Klauth and his generals: Aurus, Ferzath, Arharzeland their lesser dragons, lead the Dragon Horde to Dragonstar. As they approach the walls of Dragonstar, they were met by King Amon Draconis his dragon Adror, Uvug and to Amon's surprise his brother Prince Adaon Draconis and his dragon Otad came to aid Dragonstar. Without Adaon and his dragon, the defenders of Dragonstar would be severely outnumbered. While the dragons fought in the sky, the biggest Horde the cult ever assembled marched towards the city walls. As the horde approached, the defenders of Dragonstars shot several rounds of arrows. When the horde was at the wall, they climbed it and attacked the men stationed on the top of the walls; the defenders of the city were able to repel the first couple of waves of attacks. But after hours of warfare, the defenders of Dragonstar were starting to become outnumbered and tired. After a few more waves of Kobolds and Drakes the Dragon Horde was able to penetrate the city walls.
In the sky, the fight of dragons lasted hours, But Klauth's might was too strong for the defenders in the sky. Uvug was gravely injured and fled back to his Den in the Deepstone Mountains. Soon, Amon and his dragon retreated within the castle walls. Prince Adaon Draconis and his dragon Otad continued to fight and was able to take out Klauth's general Ferzath . But soon, they were outnumbered and fled within the castle walls also. As the Cult of Klauth gained more ground, the defenders of Dragonstar seemed to be doomed.
As Klauth and his army reached the castle, Klauth flew next to the castle and prepared to breathe fire upon it. Just as he shot his magical fire at the castle, his fireball bounced off the castle's tower, and emerging from the smoke was Dragonstar's Leader and the archmage of the Arcane Society Ezin Gavinus. With the help of his colleagues from the Arcane Society, they cast a powerful force field around the castle of Dragonstar. But after a few more attacks from Klauth, he was able to break through the barrier, torching the tallest tower of the castle. As the barrier was destroyed, the dragon horde began to continue its attack. The defenders of Dragonstar were quickly being surrounded. Once the horde entered the castle, King Amon Draconis realized that Dragonstar was doomed. After over 10 hours of combat, King Amon called for a retreat, grabbing as many soldiers as he could and throwing them on Adror. He yelled at his brother Adaon to leave the castle, but his brother kept fighting. But from Adaon's perspective, he did not hear Amon, and once he saw Amon fly off with Adror, Adaon thought his brother had abandoned him. Adaon managed to escape and fled back to Dragow to help prepare defenses there.

PREPARE FOR THE FINAL BATTLE

King Amon and the soldiers he saved return to Dragonfall the archmage Ezin Gavinus also goes to Dragonfall to help the King plan his next move. King Amon realizes that Dragonfall may very well be the last stand for the realm of Daledon. He quickly sends word out to the other kingdoms of Daledon. He knows it is going to take everyone's help to even stand a chance against Klauth.
Just as all hope was gone for Daledon, a messenger carrying a letter for the king arrives in Dragonfall. The letter reads, "It is finished; a rider is on his way to deliver it as you read this. Discard this letter after reading". The The Crown Of Wishes has been completed. Now, Amon must hold on until it arrives.
A month later, troops from all across Daledon traveled to Dragonfall to prepare for the final battle. Upon Amon's head now sits the The Crown Of Wishes unsure of what the crown will do to him, he waits for the perfect time to use it. The King of vastor, Gulbek Frostchin,Ezin Gavinus and Vaton Shadowblood are all present at the time. They create battle plans for the next dragon attack and prepare for the final battle.

THE BATTLE OF DRAGONFALL

On the 6th day of Omir, a scout reports to King Amon that a dragon horde was spotted just hours away. Amon puts on his battle armor and mentally prepares for the battle. Amon knows that Daledon rests on his shoulders now.
A few hours later, a trumpet is heard, signaling that the Dragon Horde has arrived. Amon gathered his generals, along with Gulbek, Ezin, and Vaton. Adror flys to the sky to prepare the fight against Klauth and his cult. 4 other dragons follow Adror including Uvug. On Klauth's side, he has all of his remaining generals. The Dragons of Daledon clash with the Cult of Klauth. As these groups start to fight on the ground, the Dragon Horde finally reaches the walls of Dragonfall. They are met with heavy resistance from the Army of Daledon. Just like the battle before, the Army of Daledon was able to fight off several waves of Kobolds and Drakes. As the ground forces of Daledon begin to tire out, the two powerful wizards, Vaton and Ezin, are able to fight off several more waves of the dragon horde. But suddenly, Klaught flies down and sets fire to the battle line of the Daledon Army, killing hundreds of troops in one fell swoop.
From the south of Dragonfall, in Dragon's Bay five Osivian boats equipped with their new ballistas designed for dragon warfare, shoot five bolts towards Klauth and his dragons. One bolt hits Klauth's side, injuring him. The other four bolts miss. The boats fire again. This time striking Aurus killing him. The soldiers see this dragon fall from the sky and begin to cheer. Klauth filled with rage, fires his firey breathe at the city walls, killing even more soldiers, an injured Uvug flys towards Klauth to attack him. Klauth notices Uvug and strikes him with his tail. Uvug is sent flying down into the city walls.
While Amon is fighting the dragon horde, he watches Uvug crash into the city walls, crushing hundreds of his troops. In the midst of battle, Amon begins to breathe heavily and becomes very dizzy and confused. Amon realizes that everyone is doomed. Klauth alone is too powerful, but with his cult on his side, it would be nearly impossible to stop him. Amon rubs the new crown on his head and realizes he must use the crown now to save Daledon. But what does Amon wish for? that is the question Amon asks himself.
In the middle of battle, Amon, surrounded by enemies, uses The Crown Of Wishes. Amon is instantly brought to one knee as the power of the crown courses through his body. The Daledon soldiers near Amon all turn and look at him. Suddenly, an enormous silver dragon with a magical blue aura appeared in the sky. Amon looks to the sky and realizes he has summoned Bahamut a powerful dragon. Amon had learned of this dragon from tales his father King Aithne Draconis once told him as a small child. Amon was unaware that these stories his father taught him were, in fact, actual events that had happened hundreds of years ago. In one of his father's stories, Aithne spoke of a time when a powerful leader would call upon a dragon named Bahamut to help save the world. In the moment of despair, Amon realized it was his destiny to summon Bahamut, the dragon God of Justice, to help save Daledon.
Klauth, being an elder dragon, quickly understood who this new dragon was, and for once, Klauth was worried. He quickly gathered Arharzel and ordered him to attack Bahamut. He attacks Bahamut, but he is no match for the God of Justice. He was easily able to defeat several dragons of the cult of Klauth. Bahamut had made an oath that forbade him from killing dragons, so he gravely injured the dragons instead. As the dragons fell one by one, the ground forces of the Daledon Army gained tremendous momentum and were able to push back the dragon horde. Klauth sees this and quickly flies over to the front line. Just as he is about to cast his firey breath, Bahamut crashes directly into Klauth, sending them both falling to the ground.

THE BATTLE OF GOOD VS EVIL

As the two dragons fought, the battle of good vs evil began. At first, Bahamut thought that Klauth would be at a disadvantage. Bahamut was an Immortal dragon who was much bigger and more powerful than Klauth. But as a surprise to Bahamut, he had to use more strength than he originally thought he would have to use. Klauth was able to break free and was able to cast his fiery breath. Normally, a single attack from a mortal dragon such as Klauth would not hurt Bahamut much. But for some reason, it did. Bahamut was now confused and intrigued about how Klauth had become so powerful. Klauth being a cocky and confident dragon, said to Bahamut, "What's wrong? Did that attack hurt you? Tiamat says hello." Bahamut then realizes that his sister Tiamat, the goddess of greed and the Queen of the evil dragons, must have cast a magical spell on Klauth to transfer some of her power to him. After realizing this, Bahamut understood that he must use all of his strength to defeat Klauth, a mortal dragon with god-like strength.
As the fight continued, Klauth quickly turned his attention to his dragon horde that the Daledon Army was defeating. He cast a magical spell on his horde, which gave each one of his soldiers a glimpse of his power. With this powerful spell, the dragon horde marched forward and was able to push back the Daledon forces further into the city. Soon, the dragon horde would push the Daledon Army back to the Palace of Dragons, where the throne of Incendium was. Amon, desperate, tries to use The Crown Of Wishes, but his wish that summoned Bahamut had drained most of Amon's energy and was unable to cast another wish. Amon ordered the retreat of his troops into the palace. He knew that this was the final stand for his army. If they failed, the war would be lost.

THE END OF KLAUTH

Bahamut was surprisingly struggling against Klauth; the power given to Klauth from Tiamat gave him the edge he needed against Bahamut. Blow after blow, Bahamut was weakened, and Klauth only seemed to gain more strength. From the rubble, Uvug rose and flew to Bahamut's aid. Uvug snuck up on Klauth and hit him with his tail in the spot where a bolt was stuck early in the battle. Out of rage, Klauth turns his focus onto Uvug, grabbing him and quickly flying toward the ground, slamming Uvug into the ground. Trapped on the ground, Klauth kills Uvug by stepping on his head. Klauth, being occupied by Uvug, was not aware of Bahamut, and it was the perfect time for Bahamut to strike. Bahamut flies towards Klauth on the ground and slams him into the ground with his hind legs. On top of Klauth, Bahamut strikes several more times. Klauth, being trapped under Bahamut, was unable to block any of his attacks. For the first time in the Dragon War, Klauth was frightened. Bahamut rips into one of Klauth's wings, making it impossible for Klauth to fly. Bahamut then bites into Klauth's neck. Klauth lets out a mighty roar. Klauth lies in the rubble of the city and has lost the battle. Unable to move, he awaits the final blow from Bahamut, but his oath to not kill dragons forbids him from killing Klauth.
With Klauth almost dead and the rest of the Cult of Klauth wounded. The Dragon Horde had lost the magical spell given by Klauth and had become weaker once again. King Amon Draconis and the Daledon Army were able to push the horde back outside. While outside Amon notices in the distance Klauth lying helplessly on the ground. He quickly gets on top of Adror and flies towards Klauth. Near Klauth, Adror lands, and Amon walks towards Klauth. Amon stops by Bahamut and thanks him. Bahamut responds in Draconic, the language of dragons, " Your blood smells of mine; interesting the Dragonborn still walk among Edar." Amon understands what Bahamut has said and responds, "Yes, I am the king of the Dragonborn race; I thank you, dragon, for your help." Bahamut chuckles and says, " Yes, a king, but for how long? I sense great hatred within you; such hatred, untamed, can lead to corruption. Beware of those you trust. My oath forbids me from killing darastrix (dragons I must return to my home in Celestia." Before Amon can say anything else, Bahamut flies off and disappears into the clouds. Amon turns and walks to Klauth, who is still lying on the ground helpless; as Amon approaches, Klauth says, "Ah, here comes the almighty king, the man who saved Daledon. This land belongs to me, human; I will get my revenge; I will never be gone from your mind. I will be there always, tearing you apart piece by piece. The crown upon your head will be your undoing; its pathetic magic will consume you. I will make sure of it, for I am Klauth the Old Snarl, The true ruler of Edar." Amon ignores what Klauth is saying and, in return, says, "I, King Amon, The King of Incendium, The Protector of Daledon, The leader of the Daledon Army, The Ruler of the Draconis Empire, Lord of Dragonfall, sentence you to die by my hand.". Amon then pulls out his sword and stabs Klauth in the heart, finally killing him. The dragons from the Cult of Klauth that managed to survive return to Klauthen Vale. With no more dragons and the Dragon Horde defeated, the Daledon Army, on the 7th day of Omir, successfully ended the Dragon War.

PEACE AT LAST?

With the end of the Dragon War, peace returned to Daledon; new alliances were made, and kingdoms began to rebuild their cities. Also, with the end of the war came a new era of ADW (After the Dragon War). From 1 ADW to 11 ADW, there was peace throughout Daledon. But in the back of King Amon Draconis's mind lies questions. what did Bahamut mean by "beware of those you trust"? Will klauth get revenge? How could he stop him? These questions eat at him every day, corrupting his mind and creating thousands of scenarios. Amon has no idea that the crown that sits upon his head is corrupting him day by day. Eventually, peace in Daledon will end and a new war will begin, a war of corruption. The hero of the Dragon War will become the doom of Daledon.
