Gamma Delta House - 306 W HIGH ST
The largest and most influential sorority on campus, Gamma Delta’s members have a perennial lock on the best rooms in Upman Hall and virtually dominate the top floor. Gamma Delta has always enjoyed a close relationship with Sigma Phi. Gamma Delts (only the most uncouth students refer to the sisters as “Gams”) are usually at the center of the social scene on campus. Gamma Delta is best known for the Spring Formal the sisters organize and host each year.
As the largest sorority on the M.U. it is a mark of high social status to be pledged to this organization. Gamma Delta is famed for their parties as well, and for their yearly pranks and a rigorous and creative hazing of pledges.
All members in good standing (except freshmen, who must of course dwell on campus) are expected to live in the House. Seniors can, with good reason, move out and into digs of their own. Currently sixteen Gamma Delts live in the House, and another three seniors reside off campus.
