Missituk Park

Outside of the Commons this is New Jerusalem’s oldest public park. Originally dedicated in 1884 in a joint effort of Uptown’s best old families, the park, although listed as being a public space, was used exclusively by the town’s upper crust until the early 1920s. It is a large, extremely well-kept grounds, which includes several historic trees, delicate marble benches, numerous plaques, piths, and a central statue dedicated to the town founders. The park is also the site of the large, historic Missituk Gazebo. Capable of accommodating seventy-five persons, the gazebo is the site of numerous weddings, coming outs, parties, and other celebrations since it was erected in 1890. The park is regularly patrolled by the New Jerusalem police and has three permanent private guards. As with all parks, it is also neutral ground for dogs and cats.
