The Scarlet Venus Brothel is located at the southern end of the Guild Ward, inside an old two-story villa. Although old, the building is well-maintained, with its exterior getting cleaned at least twice yearly and often getting a new coat of paint. The windows, too, are quite pristine, with not a single one of them dirty or broken.
It is no surprise, then, that the Scarlet Venus doesn’t seem like a brothel and, indeed, is not like the average establishment of that sort. From the outside, one could take if for some lord or rich merchant’s house or place of business, if not for the large red sign with “SCARLET VENUS BROTHEL” written upon it in gold letters.

Local Knowledge

The locals know Madam Mona negotiates as a shrewd business woman while outside of business treats ger staff and guests as if she were their loving grand mother.

Inside

The villa is not only well-maintained on the outside. Once inside, patrons are greeted by a lovely antechamber and a receptionist, who directs them either to the room of their “dates”, if they’ve previously booked something, or to the common room to make their choice.
The common room is furnished by a huge red carpet made far to the south by renowned crafters, and paintings depicting sexual scenes in various places in Ptolus, all made by local artists. Like with the exterior, one would not be at fault if they think that this is the common room of some – admittedly gaudy – noble.
The common room is also furnished by exceedingly comfortable armchairs, and its bar is stocked with the finest drinks. There is also a small stage, and the Scarlet Venus often pays various bands and bards to sing songs there.
The top floor has twelve different bedchambers, one for each of the employees. Each bedroom possesses all the necessities for a pleasurable evening, and is furnished according to the desires of the occupying employee, usually to reinforce some theme – for example, the room of Nelandra is furnished like a pleasure house of the south, matching her heritage.

Owner

Madam Mona, a woman of undeniable presence in her late fifties, possesses an unapologetic allure that transcends the passage of time. Unconcerned with masking her years by makeup or magic, Mona's features exude a timeless elegance, enhanced by a shrewd gaze that hints at a wealth of experiences. Her silver-streaked hair frames a face marked by wisdom rather than age, and she carries herself with the poise of one who has weathered storms and emerged unscathed.

Madam Mona, a shrewd negotiator running the Scarlet Venus brothel, deftly handles supplies and vender like new linens and wine. Beyond business, she transforms into a nurturing figure, treating staff and guests with the warmth of a loving grandmother, adding a unique touch to the establishment. She also has zero tolerance for violence or harassment within her walls.

Mona lives in a home on the same street as the brothel, only a few houses away.

Staff

The Scarlet Venus Brothel appears to be run like a small family business with far more staff and success than is normally associated with such a business. This is attributed to Madam Mona's excellent business acumen and genuione care of her staff. The Scarlet Venus hosts six supervisors known as Orchids, a dozen service staff known as Scarlets with a handful of utility staff including security.

Orchids

Orchids are the shift supervisors that handle the daily operations, security of the staff and guests. There are a total of six Orchids across the three shifts allowing for days off and some overlap.

Morning Orchid

Morning Orchid oversees the Scarlet Venus during the early hours when the city is just waking up. This shift, spanning from dawn until midday, focuses on essential preparations and interactions. Morning Orchids handle vendors, ensuring a steady supply of quality goods for the day. The atmosphere is tranquil, allowing staff to meticulously prepare the venue for the day's engagements. Morning Orchid's role is pivotal in setting the foundation for a seamless and inviting environment as the brothel opens its doors 24/7.

High Orchid

High Orchid takes charge during the bustling peak hours of the Scarlet Venus, managing the afternoon into the early evening. This shift is marked by heightened activity, vibrant interactions, and a continuous stream of patrons seeking entertainment. High Orchid excels in orchestrating special events, ensuring the satisfaction of a diverse clientele, and fostering a lively ambiance.

Night Orchid

Night Orchid presides over the Scarlet Venus during the twilight hours and the late night, providing an intimate and alluring atmosphere. This shift is not without its challenges, as Night Orchid manages the final hours of operation when the city is bathed in shadows. The night shift encounters a unique set of guests, including those who may be over-intoxicated. Night Orchid's discernment and tactful handling of such situations are crucial in maintaining a safe and discreet environment, ensuring both staff and patrons can enjoy the nighttime offerings of the Scarlet Venus.
Together, Morning Orchid, High Orchid, and Night Orchid form a synchronized management team, each contributing their expertise to different facets of the Scarlet Venus experience. The 24-hour operation showcases their adaptability in providing a haven for those seeking pleasures at any time within the fantasy city.

Guests

By all appearances, the Scarlet Venus is an expensive establishment, and the prices reflect this as well. It is no surprise then that the clientele is also generally upper-class. Adventurers who have come to enjoy the spoils of their deeds, wealthy merchants, and nobles are the establishment’s main patrons.
Some of these patrons even frequent the Scarlet Venus not for sex, but to close out business deals or simply socialize. After all, the prices for the drinks – very good drinks, it must be said – is lower than that of other, less eye-pleasing establishments. On top of that, the music is very good too.

Secrets & Rumors

Rumors swirl about Mona and how she came to open the Scarlet Venus Brothel roughly twenty years ago. Nobody knows where she was born or if she has family, but it is certain that she spent roughly twenty years as a prostitute before opening the Scarlet Venus. The two most commonly accepted rumors are that she either saved up money during those years to buy the Venus from some rich person, or that she and whoever once owned the Venus were lovers. When that person died, they gave Mona the Venus as a parting gift.
Mona herself doesn’t comment on such things, finding them beyond her. One thing is certain, however – she has not (at least openly) taken a lover from the moment she opened the brothel.
