Kindred Court

The Kindred are a proud creatures. Regardless of clan, or covenant if any, owns their allegiance, the social contract among vampires demands a pecking order, and the more Kindred who dwell in a domain, the more complex the hierarchy of who’s superior to whom and who can demand respect from whom.
In its simplest form, Kindred social structure has one preeminent vampire at the top, who maintains his primacy based on strength, cunning, or zeal. Titles add dimension to this and complexity to the network if Kindred relations. More importantly, for the vampires themselves, they add something a vampire can lord over other vampires: a social recognition of their achievements or a symbol of their commitment to their domain’s culture.
Titles are part of the landscape of the Kindred with the Shadow War. Indeed, to many Kindred, the only thing more important than a sense of superiority in the night is blood itself.

  • Prince of Ptolus
The Prince is, to put it simply, the vampire who has enough power to hold domain over a city, codifies the laws for that city, and keep the peace.
    • Council of Elders
The Council of Elders or Primogen is made up of one of each of the five Clans — the term comes from Primogeniture, the rights of the "eldest son". Hence the Primogen is usually populated by the eldest member of each clans, and they serve as an advisory board, representing their clans and giving them a voice within court.
    • Court of the Prince
      • Seneschal of the Prince
The Seneschal is the Prince's "right-hand" and, according to tradition rules the city when the Prince is otherwise indisposed. Many Prince relate this position to choosing which fangs to hold close to their throat. In Ptolus the Seneschal is little more that a mouth piece, Herald and administrator of the Council.
      • Keeper of the Prince
The Keeper serves the roll of recording all the traditions, laws, names of linage, sire and progeny as well as being the chief advisor in all thing sorcery. If permission has been granted to sire it is recorded within his tomes.
      • Harpy of the Prince
The social heart of the Prince's court, Harpies are both feared and trusted. They seem to be unusually aware of dirty little secrets, crimes committed and if they have a mind to, they are able to raise Kindred to the heights of legend or to destroy their reputation forever. Also responsible for the location, maintenance and safety of the Elysium.
      • Scourge of the Prince
Usually one of the toughest and most lethal of all the Kindred within a domain, the Scourge is the Prince's personal bodyguard, assassin and leg-breaker.
      • Sheriff of the City
The Sheriff and the Hound are responsible for "law enforcement" within a domain. While they wield little political clout, they report directly to the Prince. The Sheriff acts much like his mortal namesake, arbitrating disputes between aggrieved parties, bringing criminals to justice and ensuring the security of the Court.
        • Galin
          • Hounds
The Sheriff appoints Blood Hounds or Hounds, who serve as his investigators and enforcers.
    • Warmaster of the Prince
