Minroe
Minroe is a village on the western frontier of Cormyr , nestled in the shadow of the Stormhorn Mountains. Once a thriving gem-mining town, Minroe’s fortunes dwindled in the late 14th century DR when its mines ran dry, leaving only a handful of families to eke out a living. Despite this decline, the town found new life cultivating mushrooms in the abandoned mines, though these dark caverns were briefly occupied by medusae in 1357 DR.
By 1479 DR, Minroe had rebounded, its population swelling to 500. The town gained a reputation for high-quality jewelers and gem-cutters, whose expertise was sought after for crafting affordable but finely wrought gemstones.
Recently, Minroe has been thrust into the spotlight due to a cataclysmic event: a magical implosion in the Stormhorn Mountains to the west. The devastation leveled a mountain but created a new pass connecting Cormyr to the Sword Coast. This unexpected development has transformed Minroe into a strategic waypoint, with merchants, adventurers, and opportunists flooding into the village to take advantage of the newly opened trade route.
The influx of travelers has brought prosperity, but also tension. The village struggles to maintain order amidst rapid growth, and whispers of dangers in the nearby mines and mountains persist. Minroe stands at a crossroads, poised to become a thriving trade hub—or to fall victim to the turmoil that so often follows fortune.
