Minroe Mines
The Minroe Mines, renowned for their rich deposits of gemstones, stretch miles underground and extend far to the north via an extensive rail network. Currently, the mine is overseen by Gorbec Ludstone, a gruff and pragmatic overseer known for his no-nonsense approach to operations. However, even Ludstone's steady hand can't quell the lingering unease in the deepest levels. Miners have long whispered of eerie voices echoing in their minds, and following the explosion that obliterated Mount Fortrell, much of the deeper mining activity was abandoned.
The explosion revealed a buried study belonging to Melkerech, the infamous chronolich, whose flying citadel was believed to have crashed in this area in 1369 DR. Among these ruins lies the Seal of the Harbinger of Madness, a fey power nexus that forms part of a ritual circle across Cormyr, designed to bind the Queen of Thorns. Damaged during the citadel's fall, the seal emanates strange magical energies, adding to the mine's ominous reputation. To make matters worse, a hidden kobold camp has entrenched itself in the deeper tunnels, launching occasional raids and forcing Ludstone to keep a constant security presence to protect the miners brave enough to delve into the perilous depths.
