A former representative of within the Order of Objective Representation, Margaret was a aimed at being a career politician already. As the Sovereign's condition worsened over time and he become more and more despondent, she pushed hard to make sure that the aspects of his legacy would not be buried under bureaucratic grandstanding by the other constituents. The Sovereign had never take a Prima Consort, and was a well known introvert, rarely being seen in public , much less within the rituals of courtship. Since he had no known heirs, the role of Sovereign was in danger of being lost entirely, as many of the representative began to push to have it removed entirely and all power transferred to the Order. Margaret saw this for what it was, a clumsy power play, and set out in a very loud campaign to insure the traditional title would not be lost to the whims of this democracy. While she had never intended to actually be considered for the position, it was this very concept that made her that much more appealing. The matter was put to a public vote, and in a landslide win, she was nominated by the people of the Empire to fill the role as the first female Sovereign of the Bechtlarite Empire.

A native of Armuun, born and raised, Margaret was afforded every possible opportunity to grow and expand her mind, and while many children played and focused on more frivolous matters, she was taking every chance she could to learn about and attend any political gathering she could. She was a voracious learner, and often surprised people with her insight, and as she grew older, no one was surprised when she became one of the youngest elected members of the Order of Objective Representation. From her seat there, representing many of the mercantile wards of Armuun, she fought hard to assure her constituents were represented and their voices heard. This made hera stauchly popular "ally of the people' and made her no small number of oppositional enemies within the political machine.

Margaret graduated from The University of the Lighted Way , Summa cum laude at the age of 20, earning an early doctorate in political sciences with a focus on history.
