The Military of Erikadia comes from three sources, the first and most common are locally raised Provincial Forces under the control of their local province. These soldiers are trained, equipped, and lead by the rulers of their province. The number and type of these soldiers is dependent largely on what the province is capable.
For example, the County of Gräten is one of the smaller inland provinces of the kingdom, and so it usually only maintains four regiments of pike men, along with a few troops of light cavalry. While the Diocese Perithia is only obligated to provide a single regiment of infantry. The Marches on the outskirts of the Kingdom have the largest standing armys
The second source of soldiers is the Erikadian Royal Army (later the Imperial and Royal Army). It draws recruits from all over the Kingdom, and is under the direct command of the King and his court. Largely it is defensive in nature and spends most of its time around regional fortresses, such as Alfrex Castle.
The Royal Army is usually only used to assist in putting down revolts that are beyond the control of Provincial Forces. They also are used against foreign threats. It soldiers are usually better trained and armed than local forces, but they are fewer in number, and take longer to deploy. Generally in the case of invasion provincial forces are sent to establish a defensive line while the Royal Army is mobilized
The Royal Army is the most well rounded forces, with ranks of light mounted infantry, men-at-arms, heavy cavalry in the form of knights, along with small contingents of mages.
The smallest source, but probably the most well trained and loyal are the various Holy Orders that can be mobilized, most notably The Golden Order of the Knights of Sevina’s Divine Justice. The Golden Order is the primary law enforcement group in the Kingdom under the direct control of the King of Erikadia and the Temple of Sevina. In times of war the order is usually mobilized as special forces that can act independently along with ensuring loyalty in the ranks.
