Domnisoara Volenta Popofsky (a.k.a. "The Blade")
Volenta Popofsky is a Barovian Human Vampire, and a Consort of Strahd von Zarovich. Volenta is known as "the Blade" of Strahd, due to her acting as his personal assassin on occasion. She is the owner of the Death Mask, a powerful magical artifact that allows her to wear the faces of those she kills.
Disguises

General Physical Condition
†Though she appears 19, Volenta stopped physically aging when she was transformed into a Vampire. In actuality, she is 85 years old.

Personal history
Volenta is Strahd von Zarovich's second "youngest" Consort, having been made into a Vampire on 19th of Tenth Moon, 669 ME (approximately 65 years ago). Before this, Volenta was an orphan from Barovia, who grew up stealing from local businesses, and hiding in attics. When she grew too big to live this lifestyle, she attempted to rob Castle Ravenloft, before being caught by Strahd, who was impressed by her moxxie.
Ever since being turned, Volenta has served as the hidden assassin of the Dread Lord, typically killing off individuals who would threaten Strahd's control over the County. However, Volenta failed to identify the Firebrand, and therefore was unable to prevent the Fourth Mistfall. Ever since, she has severely lost favour with Strahd, and believes — quite rightly — that he intends to replace her.

Motivation
Volenta seeks nothing more than to prevent her entombment below Castle Ravenloft. She believes she has only two possible methods of achieving this: 1) installing Fiona Wachter as the Burgomeister of Vallaki, thus permanently bringing it back under Strahd von Zarovich's thumb, by pretending to be Vasili von Holtz, or 2) replacing whichever of the Heroes becomes Strahd's next Consort by masquerading as them.
Volenta has taken one of the Castle Ravenloft Boudoirs and Cabinets as her lair, sleeping within a magician's saw box.
