County of Barovia
The County of Barovia is a region, dominated by a fertile forested valley between two mountains, and fed by several lakes and tributary rivers. Though once a part of the wider world, Barovia has long since been dragged into the Mists, disappearing from the annals and geography of the material plane. Barovia is now a cursed land, under the utter domination of its Dread Lord, Strahd von Zarovich.
Time appears to flow strangely in Barovia, and is at least somewhat delayed. Beyond the Mists, the year is currently 1351 ME, whilst within it is only 735 ME.
History
The County of Barovia was once named Rassveta, before the Zarossian invasion.
