The Brinewatch

Overview

The Brinewatch is the ship salvaged by Captain John Meer, Captain Jane Hale and their crews. Now it is solely Meer's ship, with its sister ship, The Scarlet Wonder, captained by Hale. Originally, a bit battered when they brought it to Sa'anlos, the Brinewatch had undergone years of treatment and transformations into a sturdy and reliable ship.

Appearance

The Brinewatch is a standard size cargo ship, with a small capacity for passengers. It sails with a blue flag with a white lighthouse symbol - representing Brinewatch's famous landmark. This is the ship's original sail, which Meer kept the design of.

History

According to Meer, Hale and their crews, they found The Brinewatch as a shipwreck on the western coast of Saldea (the opposite side of the island from Sa'anlos). Though its condition was poor, they worked tirelessly to repair it and sail it back to the capital. There, the ship was instrumental in the Captains' success and allowed them enough to earn the funds to purchase a second ship for Hale.

Crew

Meer and Hale's crews are special amongst the pirates in Ilhon, as neither has seen a change amongst the key roles aboard either ship.

First Mate

A fearless and imposing Nixaran, Lehu serves as Meer's second-in-command, inspiring the crew with her bold leadership and ferocity in combat. She channels divine magic, and is usually adorned in white-painted armour with pink embellishments.

Quartermaster

Quartermaster Mahala Genro is a Solaran, with an incredibly rare magic set. She is capable of affecting gravity in localised spots. She is also renowned for her beauty, even amongst known Solarans.

Navigator

The unusually scrawny Altaran Tangata "Grinbearer" Fakataka is an excellent navigator, also known for their sharp wit. Through his guidance, he has helped Meer navigate through even the roughest waters.

Boatswain

A skilled Jungle Elf, Zorah Ta'Livas has been instrumental in introducing regular upgrades to the ship to ensure that Captain Meer's reputation continues to rise and the crew is successful.

Second Mate

Ceollach Seomrai is a kind Wood Elf, her empathetic nature coupled with strong organisational skills ensures that the ship's operations function smoothly and helps take some of the workload off Lehu and Mahala.

Master-At-Arms

Largely in charge of the ship's ballista, the towering Orc Ngungu Tondru is one of the most ferocious fighters in the Isles. Whilst not blood related to Pakaru Tondru, (Tondru is a clan name), who occupies the same role aboard The Scarlet Wonder, Pakaru and Ngungu often act as if they are father and son.

Cook

The galley's maestro, Kai Mahikari is a middle aged human man who lifts the spirits of the crew by creating delicious meals often out of very limited resources.

Cleric

The ship's cleric, Doctor Nirak Kwas is a latter-middle aged Human woman, whose encyclopaedic knowledge of healing, and her own divine magic capabilities has ensured the crew has survived even the direst circumstances.

Carpenter

Lastly, another Human man, though in his late 20s, Daniel Gabbi is in charge of the ship's day to day maintenance. Working alongside the Boatswain for the bigger installations, together they keep the ship running.

Translation Guide for Dungeon Delvers & Dragon Slayers

  • Nixaran - Tiefling
  • Solaran - Aasimar
  • Altaran - Goliath

Note: Nixarans do not present any different to Humans in this world. For these purposes, Lehu would be a white skinned Tiefling.

Thank you for entering the Vehicle special category! It was nice to read your entry. I like how you took the time to name all the roles of the crew and tell a little about them. Interesting touch.
If you would like me to feature it (or one of your other articles) on one of my Twitch Livestreams, click here for more info.

I'd love to read one of your articles live on stream and award you a special sticker! If you'd like this, too, feel free to stop by my Twitch channel while I'm live and let me know you're watching in the comments. If you don't have Twitch, the easiest way to reach me is to DM me on Discord (WordiGirl) or join my Infinite Imaginations server. My current schedule is published on my Content & Subscriptions page, but things have been a bit turbulent for me lately. As a result, I have occasionally been unable to stream at posted times. I often do pop-up-surprise streams to make up for it, though, so the best way to be notified is to follow my Twitch channel.

Thanks so much again! God bless and much success with your New Year's Plans!

Thank you, and I am a little completionist in that sense - I do this with every ship crew (or at least the main roles) but this is one my players have boarded, so it's got the full roster!   And of course, feel free to feature it - or any from Axora.
