John Meer

Captain John Meer

Overview

Captain John Meer is a formidable and well-respected figure in the pirate nation of the Isles of Ilhon. He is known for this steady leadership, unshakeable loyalty and bond with his close friend and ally Captain Jane Hale. Meer occupies a notable position in Pirate Queen Adi Baris's ranks. Though not in her closest inner circle, he is regarded as being one step away from that. He sails the seas aboard his ship: The Brinewatch.

Appearance

At 6'2", Meer is tall and broad-shoulder, with a defined physique. His imposing frame is matched by his confident and assured bearing. Meer keeps his hair in a sharp buzzcut style. His dark armour has a distinctive red stripe - a symbol of his connection to Captain Hale, for whom that is their primary colour.

Abilities

Captain Meer is a skilled fighter in his own right, but his style is enhanced by his psionic capabilities. He is known to use an arm blade that is empowered by this same psionic power. His style otherwise is fierce and unrelenting, but not so much that he loses sight of the battlefield. He has a keen eye and awareness to make the most of his own abilities, and the abilities of his crew members, ensuring maximum synergy between them all in a fight.

History

Meer appeared out of nowhere in Sa'anlos in late 581PC, aboard The Brinewatch, with both his and Captain Hale's crew. Together they shared the vessel until earning enough reputation and coins of their own to buy The Scarlet Wonder for her, a reference to her distinctive hair, officially splitting the crew. According to the crew, he found The Brinewatch beached aboard the west coast of Saldea, and they repaired it, claiming it as a salvage find.

Captain Hale

Captains Meer & Hale share a unique bond amongst the pirates in the Isles, setting themselves apart from the often cut throat relationship typical of the region. On the oceans, they are rarely seen apart. They sail together on almost every endeavour they undertake.

His Crew

Both Meer and Hale's crews are similarly unconventional in the sense that, at least out of the defined roles, neither have had a single alteration in the years they have been operational. Deckhands have come and gone, but named roles such as First Mate and Boatswain, their occupants have remained steadfast.
