Gnome

Summary

Gnomes are one of the primary races across Axora. They are considered as one of the 'Original Three', alongside Dwarves and Elves. Their capital city, Rattlebottom, is located in the west of Aldenia, just south of the Dwarven capital of Khul Boldir

General Appearance & Traits

Gnomes typically fall into a height bracket of 2.5-3.5ft tall and have the shortest average lifespan of the Original Three, at around 200 to 250 years. The Gnomes are known for their cunning and intellect. They are often responsible for scientific breakthroughs and advancements in technology. Curiosity is a trait that runs deep across all subspecies of Gnome, which not only lends themselves to the desire to learn and understand but also amusement and practical jokes.

Geographic Spread

The most populous centres of Gnomes remain in their home 'sector' in western Aldenia, in the city of Rattlebottom and town of Whistlestop. However, pockets of Gnomes can typically be found in almost every settlement across the world. Their natural curiosity has a tendency to drive them to seek new adventures and new locales.

Billowblock Inventions

Billowblock Inventions is a renowned organisation responsible for many major inventions. Most recently, a Billowblock Inventor was behind the rediscovery of Blackpowder, which as since been developed into boomblocks and dancing fire, the former of which has revolutionised the mining industry. The latter merely adding some flair to important festival events.

Shortspark's Construct Fight Nights

Shortspark's Construct Fight Nights are not exclusive for Gnomes to participate in, anybody is allowed to submit their creations into the fights, but it is run by the Shortspark family. Created by Aldin Shortspark, the fights have remained in the family's control ever since. The contests usually take place in Rattlebottom too, though in recent years the Fight Nights have been known to tour Aldenia as a whole.
