Sylvanmere
Sylvanmere is an arboreal duchy that was one shared between mortals and Fey. Now, the Barrier separates the Feywild. Green is the color of this duchy, and an antlered stag its symbol.
Structure
Sylvanmere is ruled by an archduke/archduchess and a Dragonlord with equal power and prestige. The archduke/archduchess lives in the capital city, Everton. Each other settlement within Sylvanmere has a mayor who is appointed by the archduke/archduchess.
Public Agenda
Sylvanmere has declared itself neutral to the Cordillera War raging for over a century by their western neighbors. They have accepted refugees from the conflict, but borders are closed to soldiers and trade—this has become a controversial issue among citizens.
Assets
Hunting game, such as Dire boar or deer, thrive in the temperate forest. Logging is also a profitable industry, timber production centered in the city of Everton, then rafted downriver.
A giant beehive, Waxmelt Honeyworks, rests to the East near the Lightning Estuary. It's often considered the heart of the forest. Despite magical pollution upriver, the giant bees remain uncorrupted, protected by the local druids' magic. They export beeswax and honey. The apiary also provides townsfolk honey from combs—the wax is traditionally spit out and reused. Beekeepers blow smoke into hives to sedate bees and store the honey in iconic earthenware jars.
Mining is plentiful in the forest clearings. Silver veins run like blood. In the valley, lead, cobalt, and rare runestone ore can be prospected. One-tenth of all gainings are tithed to the Dragonlord. A meteoric iron (cold iron) meteorite created a rich crater for mining, the Astra crater.
A few shops in town manufacture forest glass—made from wood ash and sand—in glassblowing houses. Other shops sell woodworking products, such as cuckoo clocks or birdhouses.
