Ehlenestra

Ehlenestra is the the former goddess of nature and woodlands known as Ehlonna. She gave up her godhood to enact the Barrier, separating Sylvanmere from the encroaching Feywild. She now exists as the Spirit of the Forest, protecting it from harm.   Her corporeal body and symbol is a unicorn (qilin in elven, kirin in gnomish). She has mossy green, scaly fur and an osseous horn. Legend says that the horn can purify any water and consuming it will bring you immortality. She is the last of the unicorns. As a goddess, she was slain by Obad-Hai, god of hunters, every winter, and every spring she would be reborn. Now, that cycle is aborted.   Ehlenestra once hid in mortal form as Jenna Cooper, erasing her memory of godhood with an amnesia spell. She hides from the fey who hunt her on the Wild Hunt.

Divine Domains

Ehlenestra watches over all people who live in the forest, love woodlands, or make their livelihood there. She is also worshiped by rangers and druids. The domains she is associated with are Animal, Plant, and Sun.   In some oral traditions, Ehlenestra is presented as the antithesis of the Fey; however, they merely represent an unchecked expansion of nature, defying the natural order.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The rampant unicorn signified Ehlonna in her full godhood. A unicorn in mid-gallop now signifies her spirit form.

Tenets of Faith

Nature is a cycle, an eternal wheel that churns despite all opposition. Followers of Ehlenestra respect nature as gifts, not commodities. All plants and animals are taken and their remains returned to the earth. It is a faith of mutual responsibility to the earth and to every creature in the web of nature.

History

When Ehlonna was goddess of nature and the Morrigan still presided over the Unseelie Court, the two beings fought violently for control of the land. As the Feywild overgrew the Duskwild, Ehlenestra tried desperately to preserve the natural world there, but failed, and so enacted the Barrier between the Material Plane and the Feywild.

Nicknames & Petnames

The Morrigan stills refers to Ehlenestra as "Ehlonna" despite her no longer possessing her godhood.
