The Great Steppe

The Great Steppe is the vast area north-east of the Savage Coast where wildlife and flora is very abundant in these generally barren lands. As its name implies, it is a vast sandy steppe strewn with shrubs and small crooked trees. There is a plethora of intelligent life, generaly gathered in nomad tribes. At night, from vantage points, the plains illuminate with thousands of "land-stars" can be seen creted by encampments of all the various clans and tribes; creating a unique spectacle each time. There are very few fixed settlements and the ones that exist seem to be minimalist buildings, centered around areas of religious significance. Contrary to most other regions, coins is not a tender universally accepted. Some clans will accept them, but trading is the norm in commerce. Like most areas in the coast, the Red Dust is present but easily overlooked due to its low density.

Geography

The area is mostly flat with rolling hills in some locations but mostly located to the east near the coast / bay; probably remnants of the great chain of mountains north-east. It has sufficient water to give life but does not have signfificant bodies of water such as large rivers or lakes. Some geologist would call the area unremarkable.

Fauna & Flora

This vast area is relatively densly populated with wild animals, monsters and humanoïds. The mildly-warm climate, ground fertility and profusion of food makes it an ideal location for life in general to flourish.

Typical monsters consist of: Chimeras; Cocatrice; Ettins; Harpies; Lammasus; Manscorpions; Manticores; Shedus; Sphinx;
